Hey Bigfish I don't know his story but there are Grizz all around Kelowna as many on this site will tell you. Not tons, but they are there. There was a huge one in lake country a couple years ago, and then I know personally that closer to vernon/armstrong there is a healthy population

There's a sow that sets up shop east of town and had twins about 4 years ago now. Both the juveniles ended up hanging around Goudie. Last year one was shot due to be mistaken as a black bear - hunter self-reported. To my knowledge other one still alive.

I saw quite a large Grizzly up Postill rd. East of the airport this year. At around the 12km marker. It only makes sense since we know they are throughout the Monashee Range which isn't too far away. I heard one was spotted in Kal Park in Vernon a couple years ago as well.

This guy was on my whitetail bait in October. This is close to town. Just up Hwy 33

Bet you that made you a tad nervous sneaking into your stand/blind area!

Had a black bear harassing me this year and have had a cougar hunting the deer that were coming in...but they wouldn't make me nervous quite like that fella would!

Mark is right about this. Always be aware when hiking anywhere around Kelowna I saw a sow and cubs up postil lake area 2 years ago.

There are grizzly on the Aberdeen plateau which borders Hwy 33 on that side and Harris/Kettle on the other .... lots of griz there

Heard of a few sighted in various nearby areas over the last few years. Interestingly, the name Kelowna comes from the Okanagan First Nation's word for grizzly bear.

hey off topic... Have you ever been into pingston lake, just south west of corsier lake? Walked in there one soggy spring or fall evening, unarmed. Got the willies, gtfo right away too.
Ended up walking a slightly different/muddier path. Grizzly prints were on top of eachother like cattle prints around a salt lick. We damn near jogged to the rzr and couldn't maneuver it down the trail fast enough. I remeber feeling Awefully exposed in it. It was a long wet dark drive back to the truck, I remeber thinking of how uncomfortable it would be to break down out there.

This is the first hear in a while that I didn't have a grizz on cam. Haha not that I'm complaining. We did see some good tracks a couple times up near little white. They are definitely around
