Thanks for the link. It's a good read and certainly supports a philosophy around here toward critical winter range. I did find it interesting they don't speak to the primary objective of determining the mortality rate of fawns due to predation.

Thanks for that Rob interesting stuff. It sounds like we're ahead of Michigan on preserving winter habitat I know its been part of forestry management rules in BC for a good 20 years anyway. I don't know if its being followed to a T but I do see a lot of leave strips and travel corridors in today's logging layouts in various areas of the province. A lot harder to achieve down there where there's so much private land. Another study showing how vital it is for deer to have mature timber with feed to have a chance of surviving severe snow years.
