Hi everyone. For those of you that use stone glacier back packs I have a couple questions? What pack do you use on 7-10 day sheep hunts? How do stone glacier products hold up in the feild? I'm thinking of purchasing a pack just want some insight from those who already have a stone glacier pack that they take on long trips to the feild. Thanks

Hey Skeena....you may want to also use the search function, if memory serves me correct there has been a couple of threads about these packs in the last couple months.

Terminus, bout 45#in 100#+ out 4 trips now. Holding up well but you have to treat it like a lightweight pack and try not to drag it on sharp rocks etc. Hung a full 1l nalgene off one of the compression strap loops and pulled a couple stitches. Other than some blood stains still functions as new. Very comfortable with 45#, and as comfortable with 100# as one could hope. Access is only from top and only the lid for external storage, I've learned to deal with it and accept that's what you get with ultralight. There are some add ons I'm sure, and I highly recommend the weapon sling or similar product for carrying rifle.
Not as tough as say a barneys, but that's a different beast and application IMO.
Cheers

Best lightweight pack available! Watch out as my weapons sling holding a rifle rubbed a lot on my waist belt. I'll have to replace eventually

I have a 7400, gf has a sky archer. The Archer is a bit on the small side, the 7400 is ideal in my opinion.

My Gun Bearer does the same to my Gregory belt. Hit it with some Shoe Goo on the trouble spots, before they get real serious and you should extend the life dramatically.

SG Sky 7400 is on my to get list as well, best lightweight pack currently on the market, IMHO.

Heard nothing but good things on the SG packs. Check out the Exo Mtn 5500 model too, it's actual capacity is 7000cu in and has more organization than the SG. Weight about 1lb more than a Sky 7400, price a little less

Lots of great packs on the market that's for sure

Support stone glacier. Great story, great guy, best packs currently on the market. I use the sky 7400 and suits my needs for fifteen days plus. Also compress down for day hunt use with options for expansion. This company can only get more innovative as years go by.

I bought the Sky Talus 6900 prior to this season. Couldn't be happier, super comfortable pack.

Im also using a talus 6900. I could do 14 days easy with it. I used it for big trips like that and I also use it as a day pack. It folds up so great that you would never know its 6900ci. Center zip is great. 65mm Vortex razor HD (straight) would not fit in the side pockets, so I just keep it right under the center zip. Quick easy access. I couldnt be happier with it. Customer service is top notch, Kurt and Pete are great. I have zero wear after a year of heavy use so far.

I see they've dropped the terminus from their lineup. Newer models with the centre zipper access looks to be an excellent improvement. Can't go wrong!

If I were in the market the only packs I'd be really interested in other than the stone glacier would be the seek outside packs.... they look pretty cool but I haven't seen a ton of reviews on them.

SG is supposed to be releasing new stuff in January, i know theyve been testing a new frame too. Exciting stuff coming up from them i bet.

I can't say which is "best" as I have not actually USED every one of the packs mentioned, however, I have only 3 packs left as I have sold my others due to age and health. I have an original Dana Design-Bozeman Shortbed modded as a frame pack for meat, a Mystery Ranch, Deluxe as my emerg. pack for non-hunting travels and my Seek Outside Divide MC I bought spring, 2015.

I now use it for such hunting as I am physically capable of, yesterday for example and I will say that IF I were to buy another pack, a larger one or two for mountain backpack and snowshow camping, SO would by my choice.

Incredibly light, tough, simple design and the best waistbelt I have yet used. I would buy their latest large frame and there are several bags of different sizes which one can interchange. Check them out.

Bump. Had a break in and I am replacing my pack directly through SG as Precision Optics has an order backed up at the border. Since it’s American made, there shouldn’t be any duties associated with it? Anyone have issues with this?

What's the advantage of going through precision optics? Isnt it just more expensive that way, considering that SG sells direct?

I ordered direct from SG and did not get charged duty at the border, just PST/GST. They may even ship for free, if ya ask
