Hey this is my first deer I have ever shot. Me and 4of my buddies had a moose draw near in region 3. We had a Cabin and left surrey at around 2 am. Reached our destination around 930 am. The owner of the cabin showed us around and even showed us where he hung animals he harvested. So one thing off our list to do. The cabin made life so easy just worrito d about hunting the camping part wasn't even in the equation. We started to hunt right away. Mostly breaking up into two groups driving to cut blocks and glassing. We spent our first day doing this, nice weather light rain at times but conditions were mild. Our day 2 and day 3 we saw maybe 2-3 does but nothing we were able to shoot. Day 4 we started to hike into the bush walked paths along the river. Got turned around a few times but had a new garmin etrax 35 that helped us a lot getting out of the thick bush.but sadly nothing on day 4 and since we were leaving early on day 6 we were looking a bit desperate on day 5. But still hiked in with one of my budddies and we start to see tracks and then deer poop and more tracks and at that point after I had just finished looking at the deer poop I look up and see s deer, raise the scope and I can see only one horn. Hearts racing a little flustered tried to hand my glasses to my buddy and in that time the door took off and we also sprinted up the hill but it was gone. We then leave the site and make plans to hunt in the evening. See a co at one point on our trip our friends were ahead of us so he was going through there gear and all checked out and then he came to our truck. Real nice guy but wanted to know why we would keep our bolts closed on our rifles. We thought it was a good point if the rifles are in the vehicle bolts open so everyone is safe. New rules for next time. Well getting back to it we came back to the same cut 4 hours later and planned to wait. Walking down the same path and I'm pointing out to my Freind that this is where I saw the deer last time, holly cow he is there again excaxt spot. This time there was no error 3006 tikka t3 180 grain bullet elite 4200 scope . One shot last rib and the deer moved maybe 5 feet. It was dead by the time we got to him. Packed him out on the Atv and skinned him back at the cabin. 100lbs on the hook at the butcher.http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/webkit-fake-url://0089fd81-2760-4725-a6ca-5b713b83e6aa/imagejpeghttp://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/webkit-fake-url://78fce9d9-81aa-4126-a282-8b40739148eb/imagejpeg

Nice job. He obviously didn't get spooked from your first encounter. Way to make the shot count!

Use paragraphs! My god lol

That's awesome. Good for you! The next will come easier.

Interesting about the CO asking you to leave the bolts open when in travel. I never do. I don't like the bolt clanging around while driving. Just me.

Good for you! Great story. Nothing like a hunting trip with good buddies and some meat hanging on the pole.
