Out bright and early making my way up the mountain. The slash looked good on research, the valley seemed perfect for elk. Sure enough, soon as we hit the ground the signs are fresh and there still the musky smell on spots and we slowly thread up to get to elevation.

We chased them all day long, slowly at first, frantically at times when steaming pebbles magically appeared in front of us. You know the story, it's a beat, but no cigar.

So sit your bum down, have a snack, have some coffee and tell popsie "It's OK, at least we're enjoying our time!" ...at which the old wisdom blurps "Enjoy your time on someone else's dime, your kids said daddy shoot something!"

What's one to do when elk throw back lemons? Shoot a massive WT doe of course ;)

and the kids love me again, nah, just kidding, their mom's still the favourite.

To make long story short, we wolfed the food, we drank the coffee, we slowly started heading back down when ...some 200yards away I notice something trying to slip away. Quick rest against a tree, bang flop heartshot some 180 yards. In all honesty it was kind of a cheat, I had just dialed in my new TTSXs and I'm dead on at 200. Wasn't even a contest. The ol' odd six strikes again!

Yeah, was thinking of getting some and try them on the 30-378 cannon. See if I can hit any target (shooting) ~1k
Got a lot of TTSXs, few hundred bullets, might last me a while though.

Nice. That's what the 06 is good for, putting meat on the table. They are hard to beat. Looks like some good eats.

One more squeeze and then we can chalk it up to next season; I can definitely say I've learnt lots, but I've put in a lot of km and hours. A lot. Totally worth the exhaustion and the "been close" moments. Now, when it will all be said and done, I'll be able to sit down and think and refine the process, I know I'm getting there, I was close on my first attempts. It's only a matter of time.
