What a great day yesterday. Lots of birds moving. Limited out by 9:00 am. 8 mallards and 1 goose. Still some summer feathered birds.

It was good but it went quick. You only have 2 or 3 birds and you are wondering if you are going to get your limit. Then next thing you know a couple flocks come in and you are done. To quick sometimes....

Shoot drakes only and it will extend your morning a bit. Nice shoot

Must have been those excellent calls you make. Haven't tried mine yet but am hoping to get out soon.

Nice shoot.

Nice bag :-) I always thought that the drakes you refer to as having "summer feathers", were old boys, past their prime. You learn something new everyday :-) great pics thanks for sharing & teaching me something :-)

Good times. Congratulations!

Yeah, those summer feathers are the result of the molt. From what I have read telling the age of a mallard is though but there are some things you can look for on the wings of a drake.

It sure helps. I have been more than happy with the results of my calls. I need to make a single reed though. I have been finding that the moisture is effecting the double reed and I am having to dry them out more due to the reeds sticking together from the moisture.

Just turned my last haul into mini hams. Boy are these good.

What's the process behind those hams? Looks interesting (and tasty!).

I use the Honey Ham Bradley mix from Wholesale Sports. Follow the instructions and smoke bringing the temp up to 140.
