View Full Version : Euro Mount Penticton
Anybody know of anyone that does Euro Mounts in the Penticton area? And an idea of price? I'm thinking of just burying this deer head in my backyard and digging it up in the summer but if there's an easier way I'm all ears.

-Skin it the best you can
-Throw it in a large pot of simmering water with some dawn dish soap (cling wrap and tape base of antlers)
-Take it out every half hour and scrape the remaining flesh out. Scoup out the brains and repeat until the skull is free of any flesh.
-Wash the skull in warm water with some soap and rinse well. Let it dry.
-Place the skull into a plastic dish or something. Paint the skull with some high strength peroxide (can be found at a beauty salon).
-Leave over night, rinse and repeat until perfectly white (usually two times is enough)
-Done!

The only thing I'd add to whitlers instructions is if you have access to a pressure washer it can save you a fair bit of tedious fleshing.....as mentioned, do-it-yourself is simple.

I tied a skull on a ladder in my backyard for two weeks and the birds picked it clean of flesh. Maybe that will get you started and then you can see what's left to do

I have a WT head under the bucket on my backhoe right now. Dig THAT up Yogi!
Thanks guys. You're all pushing me to boiling it. I'm just being a chicken. I think I know how Saturday is going to go.
I just did mine using Simpson Taxidemy euro mount instructions. Google this. The white gas sole to degrease after boiling worked well. I still have 3l high strength peroxide if any body needs some. It took me 2 days, and drying for a week before I sprayed it with clear krylon to seal and protect it
