Yeah... so many things wrong here.. it's in a bull bow area. And that sure isn't a bull and that sure looks like a bullet hole.

that's sad.

I know folks who have accidentally shot the wrong animal and turned themselves in to local CO's and the outcome has always been positive. Of course it's down to the CO to decide one's fate, but from the people that I know who have turned themselves in they have either 1 - got a warning, cut their tag, but also got to keep the animal, or 2 - got a warning, cut their tag, and had the animal donated to needy locals.

As op said....it's supposed to be Bull.
And yes, that looks like a bullet hole in a Bow area.
Not cool.
Seen the same thing on a small doe last season...
This year I am taking all plate #'s in the area.
That is a total piss off!

Brutal.. One has to ask what the point of gutting it was? Easier access to the tenderloins? Sad sight for sure

Looks like they had bigger plans with that skinning job, may have been interrupted.

Found a muley doe carcass in 8-23 this a.m., just looked at the leh paper and draw season isn't open yet. PMO!
In an area where more than one local knows of a repeat poacher, but have said nothing more. PMO!

We found a similar situation a few years ago in 7/7 .We started hunting on opening day only to discover a young bull shot the day before with the two hind quarters missing. We contacted the CO's told them where we were camped and could show them the carcass. They thanked us but never showed up. I quess the *******s got away with it.

ya, had a mule doe shot in 3-30.
we heard the shot, thought it was one of us.
after all talked on radio, it was any of us.
friends son went to investigate on quad.
didn't see anything.
Next day, father heard ravens, went in, and found a little doe, half cut up and left.
right in the same area, we found several other deer that were skeletal remains.
That's why this year, we are paying attention to truck that come in.
*******s!
I worry this thing is happening ...ALOT!
More than we think.

The P O S are out there. There was a story about a big truck with 40 some quarters of deer in it. They were Chinese.

It may sound strange but there are people with no experience that get an animal down and don,t really know what to do after that. They can,t handle it and bail, probably never hunt again.Real poachers don,t leave meat behind.

They will if they get spooked or interrupted.

Fsj area. It was in an active logging cutblock. Shot after dark . I was there till dark and didn't see anyone around. Probably got scared off when they started hauling logs out at 3am I imagine. On a good note I had a great conversation with a cow and calf not far from this area. Not that that helped my search for an elk.

Um yeah sure. Guy I worked with accidently shot the 5 point elk instead of the six, so he gutted it,propped it open to cool and went and turned himself in.The meat was recovered in good shape and went to a food bank(so the CO said) and he was thanked and then hit with a $1500 fine and had his licence suspended for the rest of the season. Plus he is now in the data base as a poacher and has been hassled more than once by CO`s. So.....yeah, turn yourself in. OR make sure before you pull the trigger.

And we wonder what's happening to the moose, other than wolves, habitat etc etc.
But this is not what is supposed to be happening.

Animals do what animals to. I disagree with the sss of Killing bears when the cattlemen push their herds into bear country. That's bs in my opinion.

This the other hand, when there's dwindling numbers of any particular species, where harvest data is extremely important, and someone knowingly poaches an entire animal for a 1/4 and not out of starvation .. Well sss is about the only appropriate action.

A buddy (not a hunter) was up near red lake recently and heard a gunshot around 6 am. Guys got a buck in the dark apparently. He had no clue about legal light and all and didn't know who they were (like I said - not a hunter). I was out on an leh moose hunt not far from there on the same weekend. Legal light was around 6:45 am and it was still way too dark cause of the crappy weather.
