Police in Abbotsford are searching for two missing hunters.
Raymond Selinger, 67, and Reid Bacon, 65, each set out in their own vehicles on Monday, Oct. 10, from Abbotsford to meet a third man at a remote cabin in the Kamloops area.
The three men were planning to go hunting.
However, Selinger and Bacon never arrived. Police say there were no planned stops on the way to the cabin.

Weird that both went missing, in 2 separate vehicles??
Who was the 3rd guy?...what does he know?
And where in the Kamloops area is the cabin...kind of vague, as Kamloops is a large area all around.
Atleast if there was a general area they were to meet at, others could keep an eye out.

Something sounds 'fishy' about this story - both drove up separately and both are now missing? Sounds like we arent getting the full story.. Hope they are found safe!

were they travelling separately but together?...perhaps they stumbled upon an elk or moose on their way to the loops and are busy with the animal (that is my hope)

I've met Ray a few times at Mission Club when we been there punching paper and he seems like a level-headed fella. Maybe he and his buddy had a change of plans considering the weather and forgot to tell anyone.... let's hope .
Otherwise, having two men and two vehicles disappear is not good.

well, that's another question....
"how long were they planning to be away"???
If they were going for a week, than ya, maybe they changed areas??
More info needed.

I hope they are found safe and sound. But something just doesn't seem to sit right about it, well at least to me anyways. Too weird two separate vehicles and both go missing. More info is need for sure.

. . . Maybe he and his buddy had a change of plans considering the weather and forgot to tell anyone.....

Having done that myself and had others do it to me, I think it's probable.

Before cell phones it was normal.

They both left Monday for a "Remote Cabin" in the Kamloops area? Any chance there hunting from a remote cabin right now, just the wrong remote cabin??? Have they used this cabin before, and have they hunted around this area before? If not just maybe there lost or stuck in the endless mud we've got up here right now. It'd be a great help if we knew roughly where the cabin is and which routes they'd more than likely take. Sure hope this story has a happy ending.

Wow, reported missing after only 3 days, that is unheard-of.
"In a Facebook comment, one man reported seeing and talking with the pair exploring a forest service road in the Merritt area....".
My guess, they stopped somewhere for a coffee(pre-arranged meeting) & decided to hunt another area. Give it a few more days. Remember one guy had a camper.
Been there done that.

They were headed to the Red Lake area. From what I heard they had a camper on the truck so wonder about the remote cabin comment. Apparently their sons are up trying to figure out where they may be. They were to be in the area a few days before the third guy showed up. So mabe the 2 of them went off in one vehicle and it broke down or ? An arial search may find the camp other vehicle etc. Apparently there are reports they were seen in Merritt on the 10th. Hope for the best. But info so far is very sketchy.

Yes, Ray has a big camper on his truck so they might have made different plans and are hunting from the camper.
Lets hope..

Let's hope they show up.
I will be in that Kamloops area in a few weeks from now, so, if nothing changes till than, I will keep an eye out.
I know of one remote cabin in that area, hidden from sight (illegally).
But, it sounds like they went on a side trip.
How long were they going for?

Police say there were no planned stops on the way to the cabin.

I live in abby, and there is always a stop for gas before heading into the bush. be it merrit or Kamloops. Both of these places have routes to other hunting locations. I really hope they headed down another highway, and are sitting warm and dry.

They have posted elsewhere that from tracking their credit cards, they know the guys stopped for fuel in Merritt and then made two more stops in Kamloops. It's unlikely that they returned to Merritt.

Probably camped somewhere enjoying the hunt, oblivious to the 'missing' factor.

Hope they are located safe & sound.

Awesome.....reading that they are safe gave me goosebumps for some reason....may be the fact that my dad is getting older but still enjoys going out into the bush alone and I just couldn't imagine the feeling of hearing that he's missing.

Great news!!

UPDATE: Abbotsford police say the missing hunters have been located. They say the men contacted them Saturday morning. They took a wrong turn en route to their destination and "elected to make the best of it." Police say they were unaware they were the subjects of a missing persons investigation.

Thanks for all the concern. We have been doing a lot of mie cuppa,(sp).

We missed the turn off and headed up Sawmill Creek.Since it was both F cold and getting dark we thought it was time to set up camp some where. It was best to find a main and come down. I was thinking about a gravel pit, but we didn't have a box-in-the-bush, so a camp site was in order. We are too old for hovering. I have a deathly fear of a blockage in the black tank discharge. We hit the old "401" (3400) and headed up to Hihum.

While we had two cell phones, my partner's borrowed cell phone said no coverage, so it wasn't until we needed gas that I tried mine in town. My wife knows I only turn on my cell phone when I want to phone out, every 3 to 5 days, but my partner's people were more worried, he's more reliable than me.After this, I now have to have a Spot and detailed map of the areas.

Every year some hunters die in their campers. They either use cat heaters or the stove for heat, run out of Oxygen and never wake up.. So the concern was certainly warranted. My camper is 18 years old but in great shape.

BTW, I'm the handsome one .
