No, absolutely not. My recommendation is something 3-9x40, you can get a Leupold Vx-1 for less than that scope. You're going to hate have such a small objective lense, the smaller the lense the less light the scope will gather which will suck if you see and animal at first or last light.

not even close to being the right scope, reticle is calibrated for a 556...plus its a vortex

Quality. Leupold equals quality.

I am a vortex fan but also agree with everyone else, that's not meant for hunting. way better scopes out there, be it vortex or other brands, a simple 3x9 would be a better optic.

Brand name is good. Just not a good choice for your rifle. As stated above, a minimum of a 3x9.

Not the right scope for your T3

Wrong scope because it made for a .223 with a bullet drop compensator in the reticle. As for it being a vortex, haters gonna hate.... Personally I'm a vortex fan because of the quality / price and warranty. I run Vortex scopes on 4 rifles, plus ranger finder and bino's. I also have a leupold scope on a rifle, but could not justify the cost of more leupold compared to the quality and cost of Vortex.

Buy a leupold.

I've actually used this scope. You can use the reticle for any cartridge, you just need to shoot it a bit and compare. Vortex also includes data for other cartridges in the manual.

As a scope for a 30-06, you could do worse, it's a solid scope, and 6x is plenty of magnification for most hunting purposes.

However, you are paying extra for an illuminated reticle scope where it really isn't required, and I would rather have a 2.5-8x36 Leupold if I wanted a relatively compact hutning scope.

Vx-1 from leupold in 3-9x40. Cant go wrong with that for a starter scope. Ive had one since 2006 and its been great. Never had an issue at all.

But like anything skys the limit. If you got more to spend then thats a different story

As many others have stated. A 3-9x40 would fit this gun well. Go with any brand.

Just buy what you want. Six of this, half dozen of the other.

For $500 I would buy a bushnell elite 3x9 and some talley lightweight rings. You will have money left over for a couple of boxes of bullets. But that's just me. Most will disagree with whatever anyone decides is right.

I have a Vx-1 3-9x40 on my 270 and put a Vortex diamondback hp on 4-16x42 on my T3 lite 30-06 and I prefer the glass of the Leuopold.

I have a Leupold on my AR, and if I could hunt with my AR, I would put a VX3 on it. Mine has a motion sensor in it, so it turns on and off when the gun gets moved if you choose, or you manually turn it on or off. I almost never turn it on.
Would I put this on my deer rifle? NO.

I was always told to spend the same if not more on your glass as you did on your rifle.

Of course this has to be taken into perspective..

I started out with a vx-1 and it was a great scope for many years. However I found the need to upgrade and now I have a much better scope and I wish I had bought it from the beginning.

However I will agree that if you can see an animal clear and true at a distance you are comfortable shooting at than your good to go.
