Went for an over nighter with my little 2 year old daughter. Kinda stuck to road hunting and the odd little stroll with her but we enjoy our time together. Anyway ran into this little guy and now Audrey has been a part of her first deer harvest.http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh597/monasheemountainman/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps59ng23p7.jpeg (http://s1253.photobucket.com/user/monasheemountainman/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps59ng23p7.jpeg.html)

Awesome! :)

Great to see pics and stories of kids getting out there. Most enjoyable times hunting, fishing and camping has been with my boys.

Love the look on your dog's face....like he is focused on your daughter to make sure she stays safe :)

Thanks for posting

Looks like you two had a great time! I love those photos of the 'younguns' sitting on the tailgate packing iron! I bet you're looking forward to many more trips just like that one,,,,mom probably is, too. LOL My favourite hunting photo of all time is the one with my son doing the same thing.

BTW, Ben, I'm making excellent use of that reloading kit I got from you last winter!

Now if your Daughter tells a few friends where meat really comes from, and they tell a few friends, and they tell a few friends, and on and on until all the kids know that all meat doesn't come in the shape of a plate and served between two buns with fries and a milk shake! Keep up the good work Dad!

Thanks for sharing - I hunt with my two daughters 9 and 11 and I have to say the experience separates them from their friends in a significant way - my girls are roll up their sleeves - get dirty - get it done - confident girls. They hook worms, clean fish, and help when a deer's down.

I love being a fly on the wall when they tell their friends what they did on the weekend (help Dad field dress a deer, wrap roasts during butchering, hike into an alpine bowl and help Dad set up the spotting scope and count points, pull the meat out of a grouse) all I see are saucer eyes and hear a round of ewwws from the gaggle of girls.

I really think the outdoor experience is keeping them fit, giving them lessons on ethics and my bond with them is grows even stronger because of all the walks in woods where all we do is whisper and walk slowly together hunting. I'm am deeply grateful for these experiences.

I can do without all the Taylor Swift in the truck though...

heheheh...very nice pics with the little one....I got skunked in Sept for our moose hunt so I suggested to the wife that we go to Osoyoos for the weekend...she can do a bit of shopping while I pop over to rock creek and see if I can bag a WT...I will take them on the evening hunt but do the mornings solo...my daughter is 7 1/2 and loves to go camping but this will be her first taste of hunting...

You`re a lucky man! I wish my daughter had some interest in coming out hunting with me. But at 17 she doesn`t really want to spend much time with me

Piece of advice if yours is anything like mine.... Get a portable DVD player for the truck! Keeps them from getting bored when you're driving between spots, and driving to your destination!

Good luck!

you got that right...or....if the kid is slightly spoiled like mine, it's called an IPad:razz:
Only wish she would look out the window more often on the drive up....granted, it's usually nighttime when heading up
country for the morning hunt.
This year, my daughter seems to be worried that she may not like seeing an animal killed and definitely not gutted.
So far, she hasn't been exposed to the shooting of a deer etc, and it didn't seem to be an issue, but now???
Always gave her a camera to take pictures while we walked.....lot's of doe photos!
Anyways, I can't change her personality, I will just see how it plays out this year.
Funny how they can change?, seems to have started earlier this year when I was cleaning up some rainbow trout.
She didn't want to see it.
Nothing that I can do to change that I suspect, but accept it as it is.....

Yep can't push it on them, just gotta keep inviting them along. I'm sure mine will go thru a phase where she doesn't wanna come but I'll just keep trying and inviting her along! For now she doesn't have a choice:-o

Dad, you're awesome.

The advice of an electronic babysitter is probably the worst you could follow. Do your girl the favor of not.

I'll stfu now.

Stay awesome.

I hear ya, and agree with you! However her watching a movie between our house and camp to me isn't a babysitter, it's a way to keep her entertained because when it comes down to it, she's two years old and really can't appreciate the finer things yet!
