found a bull moose in 3-12,dead in a cutblock. upon further inspection noticed that the throat and guts were cut a bit too cleanly for wolf teeth... in a straight line, knife like, branches and other odds an sods piled up on its antlers, if it wasnt for my dog i never woulda noticed it from the road, soon as i got out of my truck the wind was just right i could smell it.

other side of the hill from the moose body, in the valley below i spotted trailers, on the skid trails leading up to this cut from that side of the mtn, i noticed side by side tracks, a mud flap and an orange bungy cord.

i walked back to my truck, b-lined it down the main and looped around to get a look at this campsite.

sure as shit they have a side by side.

ran into another couple vehicles down the road, got chatting about moose n such... apparently these guys have a group draw for 10 tags... but theres a problem, i ran into half of these guys returning to 3-12 from 8-21.... bragging about all the moose they've killed already. Been up there since saturday..

i have a pic of the moose kill

alot of native traffic in the area, but they usually only leave hair and gut piles...

pm me if this interests you, i got more info

id like to know if this "group draw" actually went through or not

beer, guns and moose corps's.... seems suspect to me

How do you get a 10 person group draw? I thought a 3 person was the max.

Do this if you haven't already.

This exactly, and don't hesitate! Observe, record, and report. There are a total of 7 tentative bull authorizations for 3-12, and 10 tentative authorizations in 8-21. The odds of them having half of them as a group is fairly suspect.

Send a CO up there! If its legit they will have nothing to hide. If they are doing it illegally they will get their asses handed to them. The CO gets paid just the same.

^ was just confirming it seemed as greasy as it looked

i live at the bottom of the basin, it's only a 30 min drive of a beat ass logging road to these guys for me.

im up there 3/4 days a week when im not working and have litterally spent 1/2 my life in that bush

The next time you see something fishy, you need to phone it in right away. The CO will decide if it seems "greasy" enough to follow up on, but if it needs follow-up, hesitating for a day or two will often give slime balls the time they need to cover their tracks or to take care of business. Either way, it makes the COs job harder the more after the fact it is.

if it feels fishy, call RAPP immediately. Let them make the call.

Any chance you can post the pic you've got? Sounds to me like someone tried to hide the moose a bit, so maybe they could get it out in the dark and go back for more?

Post the pic, post the location.

COs are understaffed. The fact that they won't/can't attend isn't the issue. The issue is shooting a moose and leaving it. No hunter does that. The more light that gets shined on every instance of this, the better. If you don't want it attached to your name send it to me. I'll post it.
