Hoping I can entice a lot of you to post pictures of live animals (either t-cam pics, pictures through the spotting scope or pictures cropped off videos etc.) and the end result pictures when you finally caught up to the animal.

Could possibly be a neat thread...if we get some participation.:)

Thanks for posting those up SS! I hope others will follow your lead. I don't think I've ever been able to catch up to anything on a tcam..... yet? Hoping that will change

We bumped into this ram on our hike in on July 29th (cropped off video footage) and I finally found him 10 days later.

Those are some beauty pics there guys, wicked ram and daughter's bear there SSS, and awesome whitetail bucks there Sitka, man you can tell by the size of their necks are they ever rutted up...I don't think my T-cam has ever helped me to actually harvest anything, so no 'before' pics for me...

He came out in pieces so we'll never know. A porker for sure. Even his head was fat. Complete meathead.
I don't think his skull broke 18"

Buck I had coming by one of my cams consistently.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs3TmPU8nj0

To this day, every time I go in to check this cam, I look back to where we set up the blind and marvel how he managed to sneak a bullet through to where the buck was standing.

End result.....

Hope this isn't considered 'poor taste' but a couple of Dave's (Big Boar) images that were burned into my brain made me come up with the idea of this thread.

First, this is his original thread (worth a re-read for those who joined this forum later).

HBC fueled his growing passion for hunting and he shared it right back...and then some.

This is a fantastic thread, Brent. Thanks for starting it.

I'll kick off my posts with some BigBore memories, since he is much on my mind today. I first met Dave when we both had the Conuma River Roosevelt elk archery LEH tag. We first messaged through HBC and then I met him in person while we were hunting. He and Cory had my dad and me over to dinner at their trailer during the hunt. Friendly from the moment I met them. It was the start of a great friendship.

Dave and I ended up hunting the same bull at Conuma River. I got within 50 yards of him, but he wouldn't give me a shot in the thick second growth. Two days later Dave stuck an arrow in him, which everyone can read about in his epic thread. Here are the before pics of Dave's elk (in the second growth, and a couple from one of my trail cams):

http://i1310.photobucket.com/albums/s645/bcmulie/P1020975_zpsehjkswag.jpg (http://s1310.photobucket.com/user/bcmulie/media/P1020975_zpsehjkswag.jpg.html)

You can see the "after" pics of Dave's elk in his thread.

I ended up not taking an elk the first 10 days I hunted, but went back for the final weekend and managed to take a nice 5 point. I texted Dave "elk down" when I got back to Vancouver, and he called me immediately. He seemed more excited about my elk than about his own, but that's just the kind of guy he was.

Here are the before and after pics of my elk:

BigBoar and I had a number of other hunts together, but I only have before and after pics of one more animal that we harvested together. That was my 2015 bison, which I shot with my rifle resting on Dave's shoulder. Here's a long distance before pic of the herd of bison:

Create a Youtube account
Upload your video
Click play on the video once uploaded
Then right click on the URL when the video is playing or paused.
Click on copy

In your HBC thread you will see a series of icons along the top of your reply box
Third icon in from the right you will see a video clip
Click on that
Then right click on the box that comes up and hit paste

This thread is merely about sharing and entertainment .......as well as a bit of encouragement to get out there and take advantage of the amazing opportunities that we have here in BC.

what range/distance did you take the wolves at?
To get 5 of them, I would imagine they were confused as to where the threat was coming from.
I could be wrong?
Just curious....nonetheless....awesome job!

125-640 yards they had to make it about 1000 yards before they could disappear . Here a quick story my hunting partner wrote http://journalofmountainhunting.com/2014/12/the-thunder-rolls/

He only took one bullet. He was a fighter, his lip was split and he had some pretty major scarring on his shoulder we would assume from another ram

i love this thread! i have had a few trail cams up for the last couple weeks and have been watching and waiting..i have several good bucks coming in and wanted one in particular that was coming in everyday ,,i had planned on my first day being November 8,, and was chomping at the bit to go..then a friend said she would take my daughter for a kids playdate and i took that opportunity ,and burned to my stand. got there late afternoon and climbed in for the last 3 hours of light. 1 hour 45 in one of the bucks i had planned on passing up came in,,,after 5 long minutes of watching him walking around at 5 yards to 20 yards, i drew my bow put the 20 yard pin on him,,hit the trigger and 30 yards later he was done,,after over 20 years of archery it never seizes to amaze me how fast a well placed arrow does the job,,
now i kinda wished i let him walk,,my elk hunt september 1 was an hour,,arrowed an elk,,my whitetail hunt was 1 hour, 45 minutes. just doesn't feel like i got to hunt after waiting the 8 month off season for me. Although setting cams and shed hunting with my dog was part of it to...

Got into camp at 1:30AM after a solo trek down a rock chute.. not fun, in the dark with a headlamp tromping through a river, muskeg, and timber in grizz country. Hell of a story/stupid hike out. Was so exhausted i collapsed several times and could not physically stand it took everything i had in me to get off the mtn side.

not to hijack this thread,,but can someone post this in a different forum for that ram? i am not and have not been a ram hunter but i only have this ram at 6.5.
Lets debate and show where his rings are or are (nt) to age him. I simply don't know and would like the experienced to show their thoughts on him, he is an exceptional ram in my books. And i do not want this thread on before and after to get sidetracked as i love this thread! AND love that ram!

As said, this is a dandy Ram and if correct at 6.5 wow imagine his potential. again Congrats.

this should move to another thread on the annuli count ...... will give my two cents any way.

OK first annuli near horn tip moving backwards towards skull, 2.5, 3,4,5,6,7, and in really tight to the skull base 8 , tough to see . As said or 7. This learning from a Gov. Retired Bio of 34 years. Not counting any false here. They progressively get closer together or tighter in closer to the skull.

boxhitch
11-06-2016, 03:56 PM
(til this gets moved....)
No ring at the hair line, there is 8-10 months growth after the 6th ring.
He is a solid 6 y.o., long and 15 1/2 bases? wow what a toad

Great ram and thanks for sharing those pics! CONGRATS!

Those rams that fall outside the bell curve can be a little tougher to age. We get used to where we expect to see annuli and not necessarily where they are. Nothing like having the horns actually in your hands.

The above Bull and Cow had jumped into the beaver pond just after I was doing a calling sequence lol. Probably scared them into the water with my stellar calling . As the medium sized Bull cleared the swamp as to avoid him falling in the drink, my bullet found its mark and he cartwheeled backwards at the edge. Nice hat EH? WTF lol

A tiny billy that had a broken leg. Was buddy's first billy so he did what he had to do. True. The pics below ...... Billy was first spotted on day 2 of a back pack hunt. Only 300 yards above where we camped. A harsh Limp was noticed right away, so was the fact he was an Iddly Biddy Billy. We liost him for a day while searching for a big one. Spotted him day 4 late afternoon bedded in some pretty nasty surroundings, like the outcrop he's rested on. Then on day 5, he was spotted crossing a basin, prominent limp of front left leg.
He was the only Bill we could find this trip, and with it being Buddies 1st ...... And Iddy Biddy having a bad limp, my buddy harvested the little guy. I know some of these Goats get big, but Iddy Biddy was tiny, determined to be 4 or 5 by the CI ...... He had some nice little horns for a small one. The good genes were there but that bad leg would likely have been his demise to Wolves or the local G bears. Instead. A tag was cut. As we dressed the critter and deboned him, his front left leg was indeed ..... Broken. Still he navigated the tough terrain. Love HUNTIN Billys

While I love smalfry's filming style, it is a tad risky! Lol!

Ive come home many times in the past with just memories. By at least trying to get some video footage or a couple of still shots, I at least get to bring those home.

Not my ram, Yammy...just the photographer/videographer.....but was a priveledge just to be there.

Huge variation in pack out distances. The ones with heavy packs always seem about 10x as long as they really are.
Thankfully success in cutting tags is rare for us ....sort of, I guess. Lol

Actually, I can recall pics of a whitetail with a bent mainbeam on the WWW....but (http://WWW....but) maybe that was waaaay back in the HS.com days???

Here's one from the archives with a no-so-happy ending.

My daughter had just turned 10 at the end of whitetail season so we were excited to get out for the final weekend.

At first light my daughter passed on some whitetail does/fawns as we couldn't be sure who belonged to who.
After sitting all day a lil mutant buck that I had tcam pics of came in during the late afternoon

At the shot the buck took off like a scalded cat and bolted into a thick, steep draw. To me it looked like a good shot but we gave the deer some time to expire. Despite being late November there was ZERO snow on the ground. We waited a solid half hour then crawled out of the blind and took up the trail. It turned out there was ZERO blood but just some solid footprints to keep our hopes high. After a solid hour of searching the steep thick hillside we came up empty and planned on coming back before first light. Ravens are rampant in this area and have helped me find bucks in the past so we stayed positive.

Returning at first light, we climbed into the blind as 'we' (she was hunting on my tags) could still shoot a doe.....while waiting for the ravens to do their work. We waited....and waited and waited, then decided to take up the search again. We hiked and listened and hiked and listened some more. This wasn't exactly the story-book beginning to my daughter's career that I had hoped for. At the end up the day we still came up empty.

I returned two days later to attempt to figure out what had happened. Immediately, I could hear ravens in the canyon and snuck in as quietly as possible. The ravens knew I was there and vacated the area ASAP...but, fortunately, a couple magpies and a turkey vulture stayed behind to allow me to finally find SsS's buck.

The ravens didn't find the buck right away as a cougar had found it that first night and buried it under some logs and debris. There wasn't much left of the deer but it gave us some piece of mind when I found out the shot was perfect despite not exiting the deer (reduced loads)...and hence no blood.

I told my daughter the news and she was relieved that her deer did not go to waste and disappointed at the some time.

After inspecting the memory card on the Tcam, we were pleased to find these pics.
