Del Rio is a gong show with hunters, 2-3 dozen people ripping along on quads everywhere and lots of gas truck traffic.

i have also heard it is quite busy lately. two groups of friends recently got back from there. one group got one elk, the other was skunked. It appears that there aren't the animals around compared to as little as a few years ago. [ more gas work may be the cause? ]

How far back were you?! I went into the upper burnt today and had no idea it was so thick!! Does it clear up at all the further down you go?! I didn’t see much for bear scats on any of the roads I was on.

It's been a couple years since I've been in there. Yes, there is a lot of traffic. Don't know what sort of dam building traffic is going through there now but it might not involve the del rio area. I've seen lots of wolf tracks (del rio area). There is elk and moose in there but you need to be patient and get off the beaten track, I've taken an elk out of there. Don't expect to bump into game, you'll need to earn it the hard way.

Have friends up in and around that area they have had some luck but they said it’s been slow this year compared to last year and know there’s at least 3 less wolves out that way.

anywhere that anyone mentions here publicly will be a gong show lol. Hunt the rut...pick a species, either moose or elk and focus on that. Don't try and double dip. Last 10 days of sept are probably the best time to be there, wherever there is!

Hunted there 3 years ago saw one moose in 10 days and he was an 8x9 ( so couldn't shoot him) lots of wolves and a few white tails around, saw sign of G bears but never saw any. Stayed at Windfall Creek rec site, need to get out and walk not a lot of roads to drive and its pretty thick off the roads.

Just got back to the truck to dry off and can say so far there is one bull moose south of Dawson this morning

He doesn’t make point restrictions so he is still here for others to count tines lol
