Another 1 day moose hunt over. Pictures tomorrow when I go to help him bring it in. I hear we can drive to it with a truck.

Can someone send me an email address and post 3 photos? My photobucket account won't let me in.

My brother in-law shot an elk with fat like that and the butcher never cut it off when he cut it up and it was amazing, steaks on the bbq tasted like we were at the keg!!

OK guys here's the story ... walked all day searching for a shooter in a different area and saw squat. Not even a grouse. Returned to gcreeks and found my partner had arrived from the island. We decided to take a short drive over to a known honey hole and parked the truck in the middle of one of gcreeks meadows. Got out and made a couple of mouth calls (bull grunts). My partner looked over at something on the edge of the meadow a couple of minutes later. I noticed that the something had moved and that it was this bull coming over looking for a fight. So I obliged him and gave him his last fight. Gutted him out and made it back to the house in time for tasty dinner and a coupla(ish) cheap Yankee beers. Next day returned with reinforcements and quartered him out and threw him on the truck. Another short but sweet hunt ... now will help my host with some free labour while we wait for the critter to be cut up. Hope you fellas have as much fun as I always do hunting and spending quality time with friends ... Panhead.

Good job guys those are great pics and a great bounty, really miss moose hunting and my family the meat. I take it you are on private land and gcr keeps the preds in check, looks like you have a healthy population on the land. Good job all around, and congrats on a great bull :-)

Actually this spot is a hay licence on crown land. Most hunters drive in and out and never know the sweet spot it is.

While we do kill every wolf we can, the area is loaded with them. We have gotten in 2 cows and 4 calves in the last week that have been injured by wolves.

I can truthfully tell you that I have only seen 3 moose since June 1.

Any chance of letting a couple of us in to do some Wolf culling? Would love to have a pelt or two.

Yeah Steven, he wasn't very big. Only 887 lbs dressed weight at the butchers.

Hmm noted the long bell..that's a pretty good weight for any bull in any area of region 5..congratulations again..imagine he is 4? The photo was deceptive but at that weight he's a good bull for sure.
Good luck trimming the wolf pop. It's what allows these guys to grow large.
Hope to get out to Doug and reduce the Dawgs out there also.

"he wasn't very big. Only 887 lbs dressed weight at the butchers."

Don't ya love that about moose? That and the fact that every time you see a video of someone shooting one they walk up, look at it, and within a minute someone says "Now the work begins!"

Nice bull, and nice work! Love how they come when called. :-)
