Went to Italian sporting goods store and
bought myself a marlin 45-70 1895GBL i was h. Onitant at first to buy it because i don't like
The looks of the big loop lever but i can get use to it and more practical with gloves on.
Accuracy might not be as good with an 18.5 barrel .
Sale person said with scope on should not make no difference , but i have no intention on putting
a scope on .

i have an 1895 with the smaller loop. Bought it because I like the look of the smaller loop but am now thinking of ordering the bigger loop.

Partly to cycle the action easier in gloves, partly to give my hand a little more room to avoid pinching with recoil from bigger bullets.

Well i figure an 18.5 inch barrel would not be as accurate as an 22 inch barrel

Well i figure an 18.5 inch barrel would not be as accurate as an 22 inch barrel out to two hundred yards .

Why not? Barrel length has pretty much nothing to do accuracy. Shorter barrels are usually stiffer and more accurate.

Can give you a litle more velocity but not much in the BOOMER cartridges and a bit more distance between the sights for greater sighting accuracy BUT REALLY no need at all for a long barrel on a Boomer ! I would NEVER have one as they are not near as handy in the thick bush either those long tubes ! ;) jmo RJ

Longer barrels seem to have less muzzle blast to the shooter and less muzzle lift, but its a matter of perception. Some guys are just numb.
Many short Marlins have porting to compensate for the lift, but that adds to the blast and perceived recoil, to some.

My 95G is PORTED and it has really nasty muzzle blast with some powders ! RJ

Eve`s GG is stainless steel with a removable scope. The 375H&H is used for open country.

Eve prefers the Leverevolution. The 540 gr are for grizz portection & the 420 gr for other big game. Although the 420gr has more than enough to stop a grizz, the 540 has that extra edge. The 18.5 in barrel is ideal for heavy, thick bush hunting because it`s so quick & easy to handle.

Skinner sights in Montana are excellant sights for the guide gun as well, if you want a clean look with out a scope rail.

How is the quality on that GBL?

I have a 2015 SBL that I have yet to find a problem with. The 2011 was a paper weight and was replaced under warranty
