They are in the regs for the the island, they are open for a bit in the fall males only. I seen a nice one walk across my back yard the other day, it was tempting.

They are open Oct.1-Nov.30, or until the first snow fall, which ever comes first. You just need your general hunting licence.

thx a lot !
According to my memory, it is not allowed to hunt pheasant all year long. however, I know someone goes out to hunt pheasant every time, he never follows the hunting season, what a jerk。
i will never go out and hunt with those people, they all break the law:evil:

Report them then!? Pheasants are fewer in numbers than most birds, especially in B.C.

I gotta ask... where did you hear that assinine "rule"?

Tuffcity; well, you know what, that asinine rule used to be stated after the season date marked by a "*" and now that you mention it, it is not there! They must have lifted that rule.
If anyone has a copy of regs from previous years I am curious to see when it was lifted. I too thought it was weird, but it was implemented as the pheasant numbers were not high and the snow falls flatttened the grass tunnels they travel in and cover they rely on, making them extremely vulnerable.

it isnt mentioned in the 1995-1996 B.C. hunting regs and it is opened in most regions from oct 7 to nov 15 . back then.

Couldnt find it in region one about the snow. i only have them as far back as 96, i also have a yukon hunting and fishing regs that go back to 96 as well. maybe it was further back then 96. you know how time flys when you get older. My daughter is 9 and it seems like she was born yesterday.

Regs from 1984-85 for Region 1 say October 6 to November 18.

Nothing about snow in the other regions either.

Have you gotten your hunting license yet? Because with a question like that it sounds like you probably haven't taken the course or looked through the regs.

And yes, if you know of poaching, report it!

I remember the question about snow on the ground being asked of the CO when I was a wee lad (I'm an old fart now) and he said "no restriction re: snow". That was region 8, but probably before region 8 even existed in the regs!

And if you know of a poacher or polluter:

Snowfall, or lack of snowfall has no effect on the length of pheasant season! In other words, go hunting them in the snow, if the regulations say the season is open at that time.
