Pulled my gun out of the http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=5897&stc=1safe yesterday to have a look and saw this. A little concerned i took it down to the local shop, and was told "It looks like assembly lube". They are going to contact their rep with this pic, just like to hear others thoughts.
Thanks Rob

Had this happen years ago with some B&L scopes and cleaned it off. I still have those scopes and they worked then and still do just fine.

That said, it IS a factory flaw and replacement is probably the best option.

Update: So the shop called me back, Both his rep and vortex canada said its assembly grease leaking out, said its not that uncommon for this to happen and just wipe it off and keep shooting. But if im really concerned ship it to them and they'll go through it. So now do i chance it? do i ship it? will i get it back in time?

It's a vortex - run it over, bring in the pieces and get a new one :-o
