Well I am heading up to my cabin near Clinton for 10 days and was thinking to myself - darn the luck, everything is over. I noticed however you can hunt bears until June 30th in region 5 which is about a 1 hour drive.

Now I am thinking of going for a day trip but don't know the area at all except for the Crooked Lake FSR which appears to have a moterized vehicle access restriction. I would really appreciate it if someone would tell me where I shoud hunt bears (ie: what FSR) in the 5-1, 5-2, 5-15 areas. The closer to Clinton the better.

Appreciate all the help. PM me if you don't want to publish your hot spots.

Thanks in advace

hey o2sfish

A buddy at worlk was up in 5-1 fishing at meridian lake off the Wavey lk FSR 2 weeks ago- north of hwy 24

Said he saw 3 bears a day, all different clours.

By the end of the week, 2 to 3 were hanging around their camp 50 meters away raising their noses at all the smells.

He's not a hunter but said he could have shot 6 if he was:mrgreen:

best of luck:)

So if I can make it up there next weekend, do I bring the fishing rod or the rifle :-D

LOL - Bring your rod. The plan is to fish but if you wanna bring you rifle...I could always be swayed...

I looked it up and windy mnt FSR goes into region 3 at the very end so there seems to be a good 20 km + to hunt.

Fawn Creek butcher and his wife are real nice and do an excellent job. Although I am not sure how long he will keep cutting meat. He was talking about retiring.:-D

If your looking for a Butcher in area 5-1 Look up Butcher Bob in Forest Grove just east of 100 mile. There is lot's of bears out east of forest grove look around the Canim lake area. You shouldn't have to look to hard as the bears are all over up there. Just look on the south slopes where there's lots of berries.

Good luck.....FullDraw
