Get some exercise, there are lots of goats. Work your glass hard.

Start scouting now if you can to find where they are hanging out. Go back in season they will be in the same general area. Get yer hiking boots on and practice walking up hill! hunt them from above if possible.

get in shape!!!! then when you think your good to go, remember...your not!!. exercise some more.
ive always been in shape..good shape. but my first goat hunt almost killed me, not so much the hiking, as the weight i was carrying. i think i went in with roughly 55lbs
but i came out with close to 90lbs. Thats what i wasnt prepared for!!

Have hunted near there. Lots of goats. be patient and spend the pre-season glassing. They won't go far until the snow flies. Getting into valleys without logging roads is difficult, but that's where you'll find the best ones.

Shooting the goat is the easy part. Shooting a goat in a spot where recovery is possible, and safe, is the tricky bit.
