Hi Everyone,
Just had a quick question about some scouting trips I had planned in July/August. This may be a dumb question but I'd like some clarity.
Since there are bears out and about, is it legal to go for a backpack hike/scout with a rifle?
I will be going to MU3 where nothing is open and wanted to know if I could catch some CO flak for hiking around with a rifle. I've done it in the past (usually June when black bear is open), but never saw a CO so I didn't really think about it, but it just dawned on me I may be doing something illegal.

Thanks in advance,

As long as you have a firearms license is legal to take your gun for a walk whether a season is open or not.

I kind of figured as much - same as going in the bush to target practice.
I was more worried about it falling under the guise of the act of hunting, since I will be looking for deer/sign but obviously not going to shoot any.
More of a just in case Yogi decides to be a prick
