I may end up working in Fort St Johns for a 1 1/2 years. Can anyone tell me how the upland birds are in that area please ? I have a young English Setter and I have to keep him going so any help would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks in advance Dog_River

Good Willow grouse hunting. Spotty for sharp tails

Bridger, Thanks for the info. How about Ptarmigan or Dusky (Blue) Grouse ? Any leads on a cabin for rent ?

with a decent dog you will do fantastically well on upland birds. As Bridger says, sharp-tails can be tricky... mostly on private land, but check some of the Crown pasture areas around upper cache. Ruffies are everywhere and hold well for a pointer. population was at peak cycle last year, so should still be ok this fall - even tho we've had a lot of rain.

Lots of dusky (blue) grouse & ptarmigan in the higher ground. few people hunt them. should be decent access to high ground on forestry roads, but getting into the alpine is tougher. There are likely a few roads that will get you close
