Great vid. I don't know that much about the upper, I've never been beyond the hotsprings. What's that cable bridge all about, how far up is that, how did those other people get up there?

Upper pitt river is above the lake lower is below the lake..I've never been past the hot springs either..the first canyon is approx 15km up the river, the hot springs around 20, the lake is about 23 km, the fisherman were clients and guides from the lodge at 8km up river, they drive up launch their rafts and drift down, stopping to fish on the drift down..

The owner of the lodge wants to shut down the river and valley to hunting and boat travel up river, apparently he's a dick as well (from what I've heard), imagine how much more he could charge if he had the valley to himself...

Ya I've been to the hotsprings a bunch of times. My friend keeps some trucks up at the end. We boat up, then drive to the bridge and park, then hike to the springs. Never driven beyond the bridge. They have but I wasn't along at the time.

Theyve gone up river a couple times to the springs via jet boat but I wasn't along on those trips either.

Maths guy is a total douche to want the whole valley to himself. It's one of the most beautiful rivers in Bc and he wants us to pay him to see it. Ef that.

I know the owner of the lodge, Dan, and his wife Lee. They were very nice when we met them. Top notch people.

They might try and keep everyone out, but I don't fault them for it. The lower Pitt is a gong show of the worst kind.

I know from his stories that he regularly helps people that have difficulty up there, but God knows that must get tiring.

The story I heard was that he verbally assualted a guy I know's wife and then backed down when he was confronted by someone his own size..

If you read the bs he drummed up about stopping bear hunting in the valley I think top notch would not be the description used..

Great vid - I've wanted to go up there for years. Hear the fishing's fantastic.

I agree that it shouldn't be closed, but I can understand the guy's frustration with having to rescue people, etc...or worse, when he's the first on scene to a death (and there have been a few). It's enough to make someone want to take that kind of position.

Haven't seen the bear part, though.

The story I heard was that he verbally assualted a guy I know's wife and then backed down when he was confronted by someone his own size..

I would question that story. Didn't strike me as a guy that would threaten a woman, or back down from another guy if he felt he was in the right.

There are some biker gang dudes that have property up there, I wonder if there is some mistaken identity.

That said, I could be wrong. But my impression of Danny and Lee was very positive.

It's not his land and not his river, thats pretty simple. He offers a pristine experience, but when a jet boat or a truck goes past his clients thats not a pristine experience anymore is it. Shouldn't promise something that you can't provide.

That pitt river is such a great place to see. Havent been back for about 14 years or so. Used to hunt and occasionally fish there. Then when that Danny and his wife built that bigger lodge to many clients starting coming up. So then is when we stopped going to the upper pitt.
I will say though back then one time my bf and I were hunting I was just standing on the road by the motorbike and he did see if I was okay.

I have been to the upper Pitt in my Jboat many times, the corner just past where you can see upstream from the hot springs had a large chunk of the wall fall into it and makes the corner there extremely dangerous to navigate, it's a narrow canyon slot that has a huge volume of water flowing through it that pushes you where it wants you to go.
A buddy that has also run the river many times went through it two summers ago and said he would not try it again, he almost got slammed into the canyon wall and was only saved by the wash from his boat pushing up between the rock and his gunnel. That was on the way up, needless to say the trip back down was a bit of a butt pucker.

It has been said many times on many forums but i will reiterate here, that river is EXTREMELY dangerous and should not be taken lightly, many boats have been lost(around two to four a year) and lives have been lost(including a close friend of mine last year) so if you go be aware.
It is beautiful and the fishing can be fantastic on the right day but that river can and will bite you, and not only the inexperienced, many guides that travel that river every day have been in trouble or lost boats up there.

The videos and comments on this guy Danny are disturbing, i dont have respect at all based on how i see him speak on hunting.

Been up there many times....
Danny is a great person . He hunts himself. I cant believe he has threatened anyone unless they provoked him.
He is a business man and just trying to protect what he has invested so much in.
Almost like a guide outfitter who hates residents.....
Cant we all just get along??

Here's the bear article, decide for yourself if he's got an agenda and is willing to throw hunting under the bus to give his clients a "wilderness" experience..

http://www.vancouverobserver.com/news/trophy-hunters-decimate-bears-bc-valley-under-abysmal-policy

The idea that there is a conservation concern for black bears in a remote valley where there is limited access and abundant food including spawning salmon is crazy! I don't buy it..more likely the bears have developed some healthy human fear and don't hang around when they get whiff of humans or hear boats or vehicles..

That's so funny. I have seen five bears this year up there already. And I'm in a big loud jetboat.
