Bad weather tonight may as well post..

kitimat killer and I have been getting into lots of bears lately. Close call with a monster at 28 yards but my arrow hit a branch, the shaft spun around and slapped him in the ass, as he was running off I shot over his back.

http://i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q670/jdorrett/hbc/AB131FCE-C149-44D4-AD4E-DA4C45AB8116_zpsyi9lctig.jpg (http://s1353.photobucket.com/user/jdorrett/media/hbc/AB131FCE-C149-44D4-AD4E-DA4C45AB8116_zpsyi9lctig.jpg.html)

( bottom left you see big boar and sow )

after that encounter we put stalks on two more different boars that night, but were busted from the wind at about 90 yards both times.

the next night we went back out. After a uneventful evening the big boar walked back out, you could only see his head but the skunk patch was unmistakable.

we put on the exact same stalk and this time we were at 23 yards. As I went to range him the wind swirled and the boar stood up on us. Before I could think of drawing back the big boy was running up the bank we were standing on, and I gave kitimat killer the go ahead to light him up.

thats 1 tag cut

turbs out it was a different boar, who was sh!t kicked by the bigger one earlier that morning, he was busted up pretty good.

he went 8' and his skull is gonna be some where around 24" ( didn't have caliber a with me )

if I arrow one or not we definitely had an unreal season, and got up close and personal almost too much for comfort. We've had everything from being charged by grizz and wolves, to listening to whales sing. We've also had 6 different times we could have shot different grizz under 100 yards.

few days left. We will see what happens.

Nice bear. To bad about the bald patch but I guess it also adds to the uniqueness of it. You fellas are pretty brave to be that close. Lol. Damn near soiled myself when I was close enough to one that I could hear his jaws clicking but couldn't see him. Congrats.

Hmm nice bear guys.the rub along the muscle crease on the forehead is not that unusual.especially on big old males.
There has been numerous confrontations between hunters and boars this past 3 weeks.and several busted up boars by bigger boars..exciting times in the mountains..intense.
Well done guys.

But how is that possible, the bears are on a decline in this province :)

Awesome job man, still waiting to tag #2 blackie this year. Got a decent sized colour phase, so now I am looking for a bigger boar.

I think I'm just chapped I'm 15 years deep and still haven't got the grizzly draw I want. Now I see people with that draw asking for info because they've never been there. I'll be upset until I get out for spring black bears.

I think I'm excited about you trying to stab one with the old school sticks

Nice job! I always wonder about hunting grizzlies, when you know there are many other grizz close by..like in your situation. Aren't you nervous about the other grizz coming out when you're trying to skin the one out you shot? Lol...just always think of that when I see grizz hunts in areas of high activity ie: salmon streams.

think about it this way, we absolutely work our bag off too harvest a grizz. Everything has to be perfect, and all the stars must line up. One wrong step on a branch, if the wind changes, if I clip a branch with an arrow and those bears are gone. Our presence is known as we talk and skin and take pictures. That being said the 375 will be close and we have two tags.

Best of luck with sticking a grizz with an arrow. I have tried and failed my self if it was not for the fear of loosing the hunt I would be packing my bow for grizz this spring. This round will be with my muzzleloader

If you pull off a grizz with a bow I might be jealous and even hate you a little lol

Best of luck and truly hope you pull it off
