Lots bedded down around the highway and local orchards :D

Anywhere in the bush works good too. Timothy Lake Rd, Wright St, Enterprise all take you into endless back roads and mule deer country.

The predators have taken their toll on them. We still have Mulies here, but not in the same numbers that we saw 8-10 years ago.

I heard if you dip your clothes in doe urine they will come right to you no matter where you are. In the rut, of course.

Better be prepared though, they come pretty frisky and ready for business, if you know what I mean.

Look for these signs.
They are a bit of a secret, so don't tell anyone.

When you find a sign, just set up a lawn chair and wait.

I hit the 100 Mile / Lone Bute area pretty hard last fall, but to no avail. I did see a whole ton of other hunters. I suspect that if you know the area you'll find those mulies, because they have to somewhere, but I couldn't find them.

I'm like you, TreeStandMan - last fall we saw tons on private land in and around that area, but nothing once we got deep in to the bush. Even the sign was low for what I thought we'd find. Called for moose for a week straight too, not a single response.

I find more game closer to town than way out in the bush. Safer from wolves.

Always found it discouraging... lots of deer tracks anywhere you look but always wolf tracks all over them. Saw a wolf broad daylight too. Definitely a lot of deer close to town. They are in the bush too but stealthy and very nocturnal come October. We would see plenty at night, so they are there.
