I figure now is a good time for my first thread on HBC. My first bear and my first non-deer. I moved to BC to take more advantage of the outdoors and I'm fortunate enough to get to learn from a super knowledgeable hunter. Trust me when I say I know how lucky I am.

Not a huge boar, but a boar that I couldn't be happier with! Huge thanks to Rackmastr and D Tho for 1. The help and expertise, 2. The great time, and 3. Letting me shoot the first one!

This one pretty much sums things up....I LOVE that feeling of pure excitement and emotion after a shot. One of the main reasons I love seeing guys get out and experience this awesome sport. Stiggy has dove right in after moving to BC and is off to a heck of a start...

well done..what portion will be ground vs hams?...I imagine if I got one I would ground it all...are the hams really awesome enough to pay to get them done (or are you smoking them at home/a friends?)

I have shot a good number of bears, and last year was the first year I took the hams in to get smoked at a butcher (really did it because we were out hunting for a few days and decided it was easiest for meat care to drop them off). I can tell you, that the smoked hams are simply amazing and the family loves them. Kids devour them and I love the left-over meat for sandwiches. From the local butcher that I've used here, they are well worth paying for. Also, that being said, I paid $35 and ended up with 4 giant hams plus burger meat last year out of the hinds.
