Well I figured I'd throw up a few pics of our May Long bear hunt cause I love looking at everyone else's trips.
We had been having a terrible season for some reason. Lots of fun camping in the mountains and looking for bears in our usual spots, but just not seeing much. My girlfriend was out to get her first bear (and first big game animal) so we were logging some serious hours looking for a decent one.
Finally, last weekend my buddy and I ran out for a quick hunt and found a nice little colour phase. Wasn't very big but I've always wanted a coloured bear so after passing him up once and then finding him again a few hours later, I decided to take him with the 45-70. A pretty interesting scene unfolded in front of us at 30 yards as he battled it out with another bear just before I took the shot. He was just over 5 feet. Definitely not the biggest bear I've ever shot but I was happy with him.

This past weekend we headed out to a new place and our luck changed in a hurry. Found over 40 different bears in two and a half days and some dandies at that.

It was a long ways from home so the original plan was to bring the deep freeze and generator to keep meat and hides cool, but plans changed and we had to travel lighter in the end so we decided that the first evening would be just for sneaking up on bears and having fun taking pics etc. We got to 40 yards on this huge boar and man alive we were trying to talk ourselves into shooting him, but the thought of having his meat spoil and his hair slip encouraged us to let him walk for another day. Looking back at that moment is probably going to haunt the two of us for a long time...
What do you guys think of him?

Another fun event of the evening was stalking this bear with my bow. I got to 12 yards and was able to draw but I lowered my bow and let him walk too.
