Thanks to JJensen from here on the forum for scooping me out of a busy work week and helping me score on my first day of bear hunting. Chocolate brown, 6'1'' head to toes, 5'5'' head to tail.

Honestly was a quick hunt - was in an area me and Jensen have hunted for mulies and moose in the past. We headed in, and it was essentially a down pour, not particularily the ideal weather for blacks. We did see some deer, including a fawn that probably only weighed a pound of two, and spooked a bear off a road (may have been this guy). Heading back down the mountain we came into a clearing, and this boar was meandering down approx 150 yards away. I moved into shooting position, held on his front left shoulder and pulled. He did the tell tale squish upand run of a hit bear, and fell only 10 metres up the hill. Entrance in through left shoulder, breaking shoulder, exit through 2/3 back on his right side ribs. The 180gr XP3s did a dandy on his vitals, as we had trouble identifying any heart or lungs.

The rest is history!

Going to get him tanned for sure - have yet to decide on whether or not a rug will be made. Ive got a 6'9'' black that is brown (dark brown though), so well see!

No, no consulation. Work interferes, thats life. Im not old enough to take time off whenever I want, for however long I want.

Nice work Andrew.

Love the colour.....How was the condition of the hide?

WoodOx

Great condition. Although not long hair (probably between 4 and 5 inches), there was no rubbing. Because of the hot weather weve had I would venture to guess that he had rubbed and regrown.

Cheers
