Illegal Possession of Animal Parts

An investigation into the illegal trafficking of wildlife parts and the unlawful possession of animal parts was recently conducted by the Campbell River RCMP and the Conservation Officer Service. This investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a private residence on Pinecrest Road and two other premises in Campbell River. The three searches, conducted on Jun 5th, resulted in the seizure of well in excess of 100 exhibits that were mostly mounted animals and other animal parts intended for taxidermy. Illegally possessed firearms were also seized at two of the locations searched. One 49 yr old male was arrested at the scene of one of the searches and has been released on bail documents requiring him to appear in court at a later date. A variety of charges under both the Criminal Code and Wildlife Act are being recommended by the police.

Justice is being served and the local taxidermist is next on the list. When you mess with hunters/fishermen and there memories you will get burned.:-D

I hope the news / media describes the men as "poachers" and not "hunters" when reporting.

We all understand the ramifications of them being labeled as hunters........
