That is absolutely incredible! I've read about it and seen a couple of still pics, but that takes the cake. What a blast. Can you imagine yourself there?

Should really try it with a trap gun or a shorty carp gun defence shotgun. ;)

Well if that don't beat bungee jumping or hang gliding all to heck. Like the guy with the helmet! And glow in the dark. Someone should organize an expedition - I'll go just to be there, but I wouldn't mind taking a shot or two.

I saw this yesterday on the dish. The Show was Getting Close with Lee and Tiffany. They were getting hit in the head as they were drawing. It sure looks like a blast.

What is making the fish jump like that?
Is there a power grid to stop them entering another waterway?
The guy in the helmet cracks me up!

It's in the Mississipi waterways they were carried over there by freighters from china. Here is a quote from Wiki:

There has been a dramatic rise (http://www.umesc.usgs.gov/reports_publications/psrs/psr_2000_05.html) in the populations of bighead and silver carps where they are established in the Mississippi River basin. Bighead and silver carps feed by filtering plankton from the water. The extremely high abundance of bighead and silver carp has caused great concern because of the potential for competition with native species for food and living space. Because of their filter-feeding habits, they are difficult to capture by normal angling methods. Silver carp have become notorious for being easily frightened by boats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boat) and personal watercraft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_watercraft), which causes them to leap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_carp) high into the air. The fish can jump 8–10 feet (2.5–3 m) into the air, and several people have been injured by collisions with the fish. They can grow to 40 pounds (18 kg) in mass. Bighead carp can grow even bigger.

Apparrently any motorized sounds or event a paddle hitting the water would make them jump out of the water. As for a control at this time it's just open season on carp, I would imaging it being hard to control when they could jump so high and far.
