I've seen a few bears over the last couple days, but I haven't seen any local grip and grin pictures. The bears are out, nobody hunting them or what???

I find with Prince George bears.... Wait till ur in the bush when the mosquitos are swarming you and eating you alive... Then it's good bear season. All the black
bears I have shot around Prince George have been around the first week of May

Was out last week, 1 pile of poop! Seen no actual bears while hunting. Seen 1 live bear running down the side of Peden Hill, that's it! Not real good bear hunting till first or second week of May imo, but what do I know?! Moosin

your a ninja though, and have extrodinary animal whispering skills, a special skill set, you will find them, and then you will kill them. That's a pretty good beginning to a movie! It would win an Oscar, The Revenant did!!

I'm north west of town, most years the bears don't really start showing up until May, but spring seems a bit early this year (till this morning, frikkin blizzard right now and the grass I was thinking about mowing is covered in snow). Most times stories start coming in from out the black water and such while I've still got a foot of snow in my yard...

So far I've seen the following around PG in the last two and a half weeks:

7-16: One Grizzly, two black bears
7-12: One black bear
7-17: No bears, but a few piles of scat. (Still much more snow than elsewhere in town.)

I've also had a city bear in my neighbourhood since about mid March if that counts for anything.

Seen two out towards Babine. 6-08. Even though Spring seems early the bears show up same time every year. (IMO) Even if Spring is late, they show up. First week in May is good to see a few. Second week is good for seeing more than a few!

I have been out lots around Mackenzie. So far I have seen 3 Grizz and probably 30 or so black bears. I haven't seen a real good blackie yet though. All have been smaller ones and the only colour phase I have seen have been sows with cubs. They seem to be out later this year then last year even though the spring was earlier this year. We got some real good ones last year in April but I have yet to see a cranker this year... I'm being pretty picky this year if you can't tell lol

Having a hard time seeing many bears, compared to other years at this time. Ideas? Seems very green, not many along the FSRs where they have been in the past.

I am thinking the quick green up has led to a wide dispersal, they are not stacked in the lower elevations as per normal

x2 ... I prefer when all bears from either side of the valley have to compete over the same little patch of grass in the valley bottom... now they have options to avoid me :(

I shot a decent black bear 2 nights ago. Just go up to the logging roads around bear lake. I have shot 2 bears now in almost the exact same spot 2 years in a row. Lots of bear shit around. I saw a nice colour faze but quite wasn't big
enough for a rug.

Maybe I'll see him next year.
