You have ample firepower. The rest I can't help you with.

Hopefully you get the October draw. I had the November draw and didn't see a single moose. Did see lots of deer though. What type of billet are you using? Ie. Barnes? Nosler? Then again, my buddies son killed a moose with a 270 win 130gr federal blue box...

LEH is going with online entries this year. It is the first time so I don't think anyone here will be able to help you with this. We are all anxiously waiting ourselves!:-D

Rifle is plenty good.I have put in region 3 a few times and would suggest region 5 as a much better option.Good hunting!

If you are planning a trip and are willing to drive, I would suggest going up north for gos... Yes it's a further drive but at least you can all hunt guaranteed and don't have to hope to pull a draw.

This is a good advice. I'm planning on doing it this year.

GOS is short for General Open Season. For GOS, follow the regular hunting synopsis, not the limited hunting synopsis.

How far north would you have to go to get into GOS for moose....from van area so that's why we were thinking of that area

Have you looked at a copy of the provincial hunting regulations? There is some good information in there. Also available online I believe

There are new regs coming out this year anyways. The possible changes from the last set of regs are all listed on the bc Ministry website but you might as well wait till the new one comes out, or get another copy of the old one. Mine are always dog eared like crazy from poring over it for hours and hours. There are a ton of spots up north with moose GOS. Read the regs, scour over some maps, and go for it!!

For a Vancouver based trip, if you don't want to drive a ton, I'd hit 3-32 (depending on the LEH odds) unless you know a good spot in 3-33. If you get a draw in 3-32 in early October and can call a moose (can't be that hard, 'cause I've done it) and you hit the area around Schraeder Lake you should have a better than good chance. I've seen plenty of swamp donkey's in 3-32 and 3-31. In fact, if you haven't seen that part of the country go up the canyon, hang a left just past Clinton on the Big Bar Road and take the ferry across the Fraser. Cool drive. Climb the other side and get back in the trees and get your moose. Drive out the West Pavillion to Lilloett and back home over the Duff. Can't be beat!

Earlier the better in October for the rut, I think. For November I think you need to get further back and higher and find where they're resting up. Did that last year and saw 4 bulls in the high country of 3-31, but it is definitely tougher in the mountains when it's snowing, you're hiking and sleeping under a tarp, and it gets to -15 or so over night :-) Compared to October sunny shirt sleeves? I know when I want to go for moose!

More tips from people on here for many specific questions, yes..but you should grab a copy of the current regs and thoroughly study it, not very much will change on the new regs, and read the whole thing, as a hunter you should know it well..and to answer your original questions, 180gr. .30-06 bullet is more than good, as long as your shot is good, and, if there is LEH given out for moose in 3-33, along with the spike fork GOS, then the moose population is probably decent..
