View Full Version : Challenge: Show Us Your Junk!

Mike and I are always surprised to see the amount of garbage and junk that accumulates at local shooting areas. Yesterday, after firing a few rounds, we decided to clean up a bit. Over the course of a couple hours we gathered 6 garbage bags of shells, glass, electronics, and plastic among other things.

As hunters we value the environment and our right to use it. Unfortunately it only takes a few to ruin it for us all.

We challenge folks to do the same and post photos of their clean up efforts!

Good job. I was out shooting today and picked up a bag of plastic mike jugs and oil containers. Was still more garbage left I'll try and get it next time. Piss me off cause there is not many place to get into the bush on the South Island and even less good/safe places to shoot.

Thanks guys! If all of us did this - we'd more than make up for the few jerks out there.

 Good for you guys. It is too bad you have to use your range time cleaning up after those who have never learned to pick up after themselves.

For anyone interested there is an organized clean up at Sylvester Rd (east Stave lk) on April 23/16 starting at 10:00. Its put on by the 4 Wheel Drive Assoc of BC (4WDABC) If you go to their website it has more info and facts about previous clean ups.

great work...you should really think about joining a local range or club IMO.

If we can get more people involved in the local clubs, there are several added benefits, plus you aren't mistaken for the idiots that leave their shit in the woods.

That's a good point Darksith. I recently joined a game club in the Okanagan (OCEOLA). Once in awhile we drive up a nearby FSR if conditions call for it.

Myself,(Doug Jack) and Allan Lundquist both work at Grouse River in Kelowna. Last spring we cleaned up one of the local shooting area's by Peachland, and are planning to get out to do another clean up this spring once things dry up a bit more. As you can see in the pics there was a lot of garbage from use over the previous season. We burned the wood, hauled the rest to the dump, and let a few rounds fly once the work was done. Honestly a great day overall!
Allan, myself and others from work have also cleaned up the "Postill rd range" a couple times. The one cleanup involved around 10 people and we took out several half ton truck loads!

I know there are many other people and businesses involved in cleaning up these area's so hat's off to you and a big thank you to everone who's doing that!

If we all pitch in, the area's will stay cleaner and we're setting a positive example for those who need to learn to pick up after themselves :)

Cheers!

A huge thanks to RH, Doug and Allan! You men are setting a great example. I have used the site Doug and Allan cleaned and it was far worse than the pics illustrate. They must have put a lot of effort in that day. Doug, please pm me when you plan to do it again and I will help.
