So needless to say bit of a strange weekend. Staying at tunkwa lake resort for the weekend for a friends birthday and a member of our party came back from cutting wood with a pretty crazy story. As he pulled onto an fsr he spotted some sort of white animals standing in a power line clearing. He sais that he pulled up to the power lines they began running away with there necks swaying back and forth. He claims they were about 5 feet tall and is adament they were on two legs. I sugested albino muley but he said no way. Also I got him to take me to the exact spot but found no tracks. Brushed him off at first but after researching whooping cranes... is it possible?

them sand hill cranes are noisy beggers They look funny running through the orchards. Seen them in upper hat creek, Clinton. And the Okanogan valley.

I saw a group of about 5 sandhill cranes walking in the grass lands. They were in a line near a pothole.

They were frigin weird looking. I spent a good 20 minutes staring at them. Never seen anything like that before

We used to see them every fall up on the Prophet river northern BC.They would start flying over in flocks of 50 or more Usually around the first week of sept and you could hear them honking {weird call} before youd see them. Many times theyd land at night on the gravel bars below our camp and youd hear the wolves come in to hunt them...never forgot the sounds of that country ,especially at night..
