There were around 9 turkey hens around my place all winter long I saw them every day the other day I saw a male turkey being dominant around the hens I have not seen the turkeys
now for over a week my guess is the boss took the hens into no mans land yep the mating season has started already..

Seems to be about 2 weeks early this year for the Toms to be getting wound up.

Dammit man! I just started sleeping through the nights again without laying awake in anticipation for turkey camp! They beat me up pretty bad last year, I can't wait to get out!

Turkeys are a little confused with the early spring here, grass on the lawn is about 4 inches and the turkeys are starting to mate already, just came in from working in the yard and could hear 6 different toms calling.

Arrrg....too frustrating !

You literally have them in your back yard.

I am soooo jealous !!!

Would you like me to come over and eliminate one of those toms for you ?

My plan is to try a turkey hunt this year. I have a feeling I'll botch it badly and won't be all geared up for it, but...hey...there's always the freezer section if region 8 doesn't pan out.

Additional thought...is it crazy to hunt turkey with a .22? Headshot should work, no?

(Ruger 10/22, if it matters)

Legal, but well-camoflauged shotgun hunters waiting for a close shot may not be too impressed by a bullet whizzing by from a distance as they wait for those last few yards to close in. If you're going to do it, which you're entitled to, make darn sure of your backstop.

Good to hear of all this activity. I just got my hunting license and am thinking that a turkey hunt will be my first attempt.

I have been hearing good things about the Christina lake/ Grand forks area. I guess that's where I will head. The past years just never worked out. So this year I am excited to get out there with some hopefull success

as the snow levels are higher up the slopes than normal, the turkeys are up higher than normal this spring is what I have been seeing.

Any one know how arrow lake south is looking? I'm a first timer and new to hunting. Been reading everything I can for the past few months. Book learning, now I need real experience.
If I can get info or guidance it would be great.

That doesn't sound promising...I think that was on my list, too (not the beers, part).
