Has anyone used Richard Hill in Kamloops to mount a bird?

I have never had him mount one for me however I have several friends that have used him. He is good by my standard. If I remember correctly he specializes in birds.

Thanks. A friend found a road kill hawk, looking to have it done.

No. You should phone the CO and tell him what you have ASAP to avoid any problems. There is no guarantee that you will be allowed to keep the bird when you take it in for inspection.

The permit isn't an issue. I've heard it's between $750 and $900 for a good bird mount, depending on bird size. The display for the mount would be in addition to this, not sure on pricing.

I went through this process a couple of years ago with a kingfisher I found. I believe the people at service bc can help. I remember that you have to fill out some paperwork, that involves an inspection of the bird, to determine it's sex, age and whether or not it was shot or died of natural causes. I know there is a "bird guy" at the ministry who inspected mine. The paperwork you fill out is submitted after inspection, and you receive a permit at a later date, that allows you to have legal possession of the bird. I don't think the taxidermist will do the bird for you without the permit.

I had a Pheasant done by Gander Bro's last year that was $450. Hawk would be close to the same price I would think. Ducks and Geese are more because they have to get all the fat off the skin. Rick Gander is an artist at birds.

all I can say is that he did a great job on my mountain goat, cost was $800 for a shoulder mount. Sorry no personal experience with him on birds but the two Hawks and an owl he had on the go when I was there looked great.
