I was up in 2-19 today and saw a cougar on the trail about 50yards in front of me.
is this a normal occurrence up that way? I've never seen one before I the area.
i will be camping up there mid April, so cougar and bear are open. Should I get a cougar tag as well as bear?
This will be my first time hunting.

Always have a cougar tag if you spend time in the bush, ALWAYS.

Cougar is open til June 15th. Can't hurt to have a tag. Lots of them around. I'd buy a lotto ticket too though, because seeing those elusive cats with out the aid of hunting dogs is quite rare.

There are definitely cats around Harrison, cultus lake... everywhere. Not as many as the island, but not uncommon to see them around Harrison.

Look around the Sasquatch inn. Usually Friday's or sat.
