Your right its traffic noise I found two sets of matching WT sheds last year near the highway I covered this area this day seeing lots of deer beds and tracks my
guess is that the deer are still carrying there antlers I have to look back ans see when I found them matching sets of WT sheds last year to see if I am to early ???..

I found out when I found two matching set of wt sheds from last year here are the video clips..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMbPo7cXhro.... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMbPo7cXhro.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH_KRkrfhVE)

Went out at dark yesterday Feb,22,2016 saw over 100 elk bulls and cows mixed 6 hours steady walking my legs are sore this morning from not having the legs in shape I
pushed snow at times that hurt my legs and tired me out big time..

I took my camera out of my jacket pocket to tie my boots up when I got to my shed area I went into my pocket to get my camera out no video camera this sucked big time

Its was like leaving my rifle at home when headed out hunting I have only forgot my camera 2 times in all years of going out I was not a happy person on not having a video
camera with me could had got some good footage of bull elk and the sheds I found yesterday won't happen again will have a check list to check before I head out in the future..

Hear are my finds from yesterdays outing as they lay on my front room area rug..

Yes I know they are out there was just saying that there's still lots of stuff packing right now I realize there's always sheds to be found but the other day I went into a spot to shed hunt there's was a bunch of cows and a 4 and a 5 point bull still packing. Needless to say I just crept my way back out of there to not spook anything I figure give it another week or two. Lots of areas to look can't wait till I got as much time as you wayne to pound some ground

Yep just like the picture shows you people that like to shed hunt I find lots of deer sheds under big trees the deer like to bed under trees to keep out of the snow and rain lots of times they will cast there antlers under the tree when they are bedded the deer and elk like the south facing slops because they get more sun on the south slopes and when spring comes the grass is the first to grow on the south slopes :) ..

I have always pushed myself beyond my limits that's why i get rewarded on what I do shed hunting,,hunting or other the sheds just don't jump out in front of you you have to work hard put lots of miles on it can be very upsetting at time when you put on 8 hours 15 kilometers and go home empty handed last Friday was an example on getting nothing you don't give up just recuperate and give it all you have the next time out this matching set is an example on what can happen if you just keep trucking ,,its what you put into anything you do on how you will be rewarded....

Nice work Wayne. I can't believe you hike all those miles in Velcro shoes, you're tougher than I thought!

I think it is because I have 1/4 calluses on my bottom of the feet that helps me in order to where the runners I got these calluses over 55 years of hiking ,hunting, shed hunting my bottom feet are always shedding bits and flakes of calluses I notice on my bed sheets..

I thought about the velcro runners that I wear 60% of the time when hunting and shed hunting at home,,, Friday_30-06 mentioned my runners just think about it what did the aboriginals were back in the 18 hundreds I am sure they did lots of walking with what they had worn and the moccasins were thinner than my velcro runners the aboriginals made good use of the footwear they used back then just like I make
good use of the velcro runners I wear LOL..

You're probably right Wayne. I bet the Aboriginals had much tougher feet than most of us today, they likely had much stronger ankles as well as they didn't have the support which we get from modern high ankle boots. Your shoes are clearly working for you after seeing how many KM's you log during the shed hunting season.

Here is an update that I said to my shed friends on Facebook this morning..

I love to be out in nature nature is a place a person can be themselves see nature at its best I have been part of nature for 55 years love the mountains to no end ,,Guess I get down on myself some times not finding any sheds and what brings it on is some shed hunters only go out for a couple hours and are rewarded the time I put in and find nothing,,,I will find elk sheds in the months to come I should not get down on myself so hard its just a matter of time till I find fresh brown gold then what my negative thought will turn into positive thoughts when I strike gold I have to look at it this way I get good exercise and I'm out in god's land meaning nature a person can't get it any better then that,,I have to stop thinking that I will be rewarded every time I go out for sheds and that I am a lucky person to be able to do what I love to do at my age there are lots of men that can't do what I do and that's climbing the hills all day long non stop,,,all and all I was sore and tired yesterday and I vented somewhat and I should not of ,,sorry about this my shed friends that are my contacts on facebook's,,tomorrow is another day ..

I really thought by putting on many kilometers for 11 hours yesterday that I would be rewarded with a fresh elk shed boy was I wrong I was in my honey hole for elk sheds as for a friend of mine we really gave it all we had I am positive now that 90% of the elk are still packing.

Out from daybreak till 7pm total of 11 hours shed hunting we put on around 20 k to come up with only a few olser elk sheds, mule deer and WT sheds,,my knees are a little sore this morning legs are a little sore as well,,the good that came out of this shed hunt is I got in better shape lost more pounds in the upper end and I did not have to go to work was nice to be out in the mountains doing what I love to do.

Here are a few video clips and pic from my outing yesterday ,,O ya I had a couple ticks on me yesterday.......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzOpgcJrn6c

I am not going to get down with myself I will keep hitting it hard for sheds sooner or latter the table with turn for me meaning I will find fresh gold in a matter of time,,My finds after a 11 hour shed hunt..

Wayne, come out looking around the shotgun range just out of town here. I was out shooting in my new crossbow and we saw a herd that must have had 500 plus elk in it.Get to the Wyclifff junction and turn to the airport and turn left right away to the end, it hooks back to Kimberley.Halfway down there is a power line that goes alongside of a little mountain hump. They winter there. Check it out. Down to the left is a stand of diamond willow, that`s where I get my stuff for canes. Luck my friend.

Great stuff..I love shed hunting.. Never found any elk sheds yet..congratz on the great finds...Igot a few dandy whitetial sheds in the past. I'll share a story with you about the best sheds I found and try and post a pic. If I can't post the pic I can email you. A few years ago I was walking my dog in an area that there is no hunting. I was in a deep coulee and as I was walking the biggest whitetail I hav ever seen crosses infront of me . He scored over 200 !!! This was August and he was still in velvet. He was non typical and had double drops on on side and a single drop on the other...all drops were long and had character. I decided I would try and find his sheds in February as I could not bow hunt him. Because he was in a non huntable location I just scouted him and found his suspected bedding area. I would walk to this location (very thick cover on a steep hill) and I would see a very large back end of a deer walk out the top of the hill..keeping his tail down and not panicking and leave the area.I did not want to stink up his area and was confident it was him. February 5th I believe it was I spent three hours working that cover and just before I was ready to call it the day, my labrador retriever started smelling something partially covered in snow !!! I was right beside him and leaned over and found a shed/ . Pulling it up I realized it was the giant shed....I was very excited. The next day I had to go out of town and meet a friend of mine who had built me a new longbow. I showed him the shed and he was amazed...He said I should go look for the other shed. Well that was already in the plans but knowing he could hold onto the other side for a minute or days...made me think it was likely going to be tough to find the other side. The next day I went back to the same cover and searched all morning. Early afternoon I was getting tired, glassed an open field behind the cover and saw a large antler sticking out of the snow..I ran to it and unfortunately it was not the match , but still a nice antler. Well I decided to not quit yet . I thought to try another stand of trees near by. About 80 yards away but felt this was not a bedding area but likely a route he might take to stay in cover going to and from feeding. My dog was about 25 yards in front of me . I see him sniffing a large arching main beam on the edge of the game trail..it is the other side !!!
AMAZING....he is a monster buck and if I can I will post pics....He was so special I had the antlers done up on another cape and he hangs on my wall.
A true monarch. I lend him to a friend for trade shows as he brings guys over to his booth. The taxidermist said he is the prettiest mount he has ever done...Wish I could have hunted him. He died the next year...hit my a vehicle... I was scouting him out again before he died and unfortunately he had broken off one of his massive antlers while in velvet . Then later he was hit by the vehicle. If your into scoring he scores 210 gross 198 3/4 net. I myself just like finding them and prefer eating younger deer. But if was huntable I would have camped out for him !!!

if you find them hanging in strange places it may be someone like me who just hangs em on a tree when I find them...don't have a use for them so I leave them...I don't imagine anyone who collects them would try to convince someone else to keep them (competition)...but if someone can tell me a good use for them I may collect them for that person...:-P

That's what I do, I don't pack out the white ones, just put them in a tree.
