Is it legal to ice fish at night? I took a quick look through the regs and couldn't find much except that you cannot use a light to attract fish. Could you still sit in a ice fishing shelter with a lantern on just so you can actually see? Obviously not shining it over the holes.

That's how most guys catch Burbot. Yes it's legal.

Night fishing is a blast. Had lots of good luck on interior lakes. Fish a leach or a flat fish on a dry line in just a few feet of water. They come in very shallow at night cause there are less shit hawks n stuff around. A tip to the wise, If your sitting in the back of the boat make sure you sit down when your buddy jumps out onto shore and pulls the boat in. Makes for good comedy otherwise. lol

night fishing is usually productive, not just for typical nocturnal species like burbot and walleye, but I find on pressured lakes the best fishing is often at night...big trout cruise up very shallow

sleeper ice huts aren't very popular in BC/AB, but back east they're huge, it's a blast fishing all night from your bed

I like to call that time "the witching hour." First 30 and last 30 mins of daylight is a blast!

Has anyone ever tried ice fishing at night?

Might have to give it a whirl. Can't fall in the water after a few too many.

Drive out on the lake.
Get out of the truck and drill a hole next to a door.
Open window, protrude fishing rod.
Crank stereo, open beer.
Feel good about your productive day outside.

rig up a rod holder to your power window, and press the button up and down to jig all night....have actually seen this on the lake before hahahha

I'm liking these scenarios. Could just take up an old beater and drill a hole in the floor. Could still use the windah for jiggn action and would have a place to take a whizzz.
