Just wondering if anyone has spent anytime out in the morekill are 7-17 any elk or moose activity? How is the black bear population. Looking at doing a spring bear hunt out there and some scouting trips in the summer.

Is the road not closed during hunting season?

I'm not familiar with the Morkill FSR and whether or not it's closed, but I've spent a bit of time in the general SE corner of 7-17 and I've seen a ton of black bears, one grizzly, a handful of moose, but no elk. Although, I'm sure elk are around as they're everywhere else.

I'd say that spot would be a pretty good spring bear location if you can wait the extra bit for the snow to melt as that area doesn't melt too quickly.

The road itself is closed to motor vehicles for hunting, but you can still hunt by foot, horse etc.

Awesome thanks guys i appreciate the info. I did know that it was closed to vehicle activity but was just wondering if anyone had spent anytime hunting in the area and what their experience was like. Thanks again
