Be very careful with shot placement. I have drilled em before with a 58gr bullet out of a 243 and had em run off 100 yds. I would never use a 22lr unless it was a very close up head shot.

How does a 17hmr do?

there's been many a debate on many a forum as to the efficacy of 17HMR on yotes. I think it'll do just fine as long as you know your limits and place your shots well. I've heard that Hornady Vmax does better than the CCI hollow points and I hope to test them both out this year.

Punched one clear through the lungs missing shoulders and spine with a 185 Berger out a .300h&h at 400yds, fist sized hole out the backside and it ran 90 snowshoe paces. They're pretty tough #for#, but would never feel bad plinking one with the .22

Yes you can hunt them with a 22. 36gr doing 1200 fps but you cant use a 410 slug 87gr doing 1800 fps . Who makes these rules up ?

I've shot lots with a 22

Within 100 yards, no problem. I use Stingers. I never try for a head shot, I body shoot them behind the front shoulder or in the middle straight on.

I've also shot lots with big rifles and for the most part they can still keep going a little bit after getting hit, just with a big gun it's more of a mess.

Got this little female last march shot with a 243 65 grain good shot placement this this straight booked it as you can see yhe blood trail wasnt too hard to follow made it about 250 yards from where first shot. I wouldnt shoot them with a 22. Personally ive seen some pretty tough ones and have heard of them goin down with a 22 but i wouldnt try it. Smallest id go is 22 mag within a 100 yards or 17 hmr or 22 250
