After spending the last couple of seasons helping others get their game, I decided to finally do some shooting of my own.
I started off the season with an elk hunt up north with a lifelong hunting buddy. I was lucky enough to get a nice 5x5 bull elk, in the best spot I could have ever hoped for! 300 yards from camp, right on the rivers edge! The weather turned hot after that, and the elk stopped bugling, but the rest of the trip was fantastic. Big thanks to Kevin from Riverjet Adventures for his always excellent service, I always enjoy the boat ride in and out. Found a few spots that had wolf and grizzly tracks.. seems like we weren't the only hunters in the area!

More to come, still typing..

After the elk hunt I was away to Europe for a vacation with my wife, but as soon as I got back I was out chasing mule deer!
My first buck was down after a short 2 hour hunt on the first morning. Not much of a story on him, just slowly still hunting through an old logged off side hill, when our eyes met through the timber.

My second buck came a few weeks later, in an area that a different buck had given me the slip last year. It was a classic scenario, sitting by the fire with my gun in the truck, just relaxing. A nice buck decides to wander down the road not 10 yards in front of my truck, by the time I got to the gun, he was heading for the hills, no chance. That's the way it goes sometimes I guess..
So this year, back to that same spot. 30 minutes from the truck on the first day, I catch this guy sneaking through the trees. Not a bad season all in all!

I wish I would've had time to get out more, but I am already looking forward to the next season.
I may not reply to any questions or comments right away, as I don't log in very often. Enjoy the story and pictures regardless..

Cheers!
