Plenty of black bears, zero Grizzlies. Plenty of hunters too, come to think of it.

I used to backpack and hunt all around Tunkwa Lake, taking in the area around Bose Hill, Forge Mt,
Mt. Fehr, Indian Gardens Ranch, and both Savona and Little Savona Mts. beginning in 1961, before
all the massive logging changed everything. Never saw a grizzly or tracks, but did see just about
everything else except buffalo and cariboo.

There was a grizzly killed by a rancher above Savona over 20 years ago. I don't recall the whole storey but I did believe it to be true.

I've seen black bears and wolves. Cougar on trail cam. Never any grizz (not even sign).

I have seen 2 grizzled bearce very close to Logan lake. 1 in 1973 and 1 about 1977. Both were small. Why do you ask OP?

Rare if any in the Tunkwa. I've hunted lots in there and never seen any sign. Just moose and deer - and I was stalked by cougars one morning too! I 'heard' CO's 'babysat' a griz sow and cubs a few years back on the Dew Drop to prevent conflicts but they wandered off, never to be seen again.
