After several evenings of looking at smaller bears, I finally found a bear worthy of a TSX. Had to scare off 2 other 5' bears to get to the one I wanted, but after a 20 minute stalk and a 177 yard quartering toward me shot, I had my first bear of 07. The 210 TSX(.338 Ultra) did alot more than I expected, not only dropping the bear in its tracks, but full length penetration and exit.

He measured 5'3" to the base of the tail in the round and will square over 6'. Front pads were just shy of 4 3/4". Never measured the skull, as I sold the bear in the round, but it would be in the 18.5 - 19" range.

177 yards is a good range to work with, not too far not too close

A .338 ultra throwing a 210gn TSX should go lengthwise through anything in N. America, including a train8) .
