So, right after i posted this thread, i found a bed with a tiny bit of blood in it. This was 200 yards past the last known drop. Just then i see the buck bolting away 100 yards below me. (No shot)
i follow the bucks tracks for a couple hundred more yards ( no blood) and hes moving fine?
hunted the area for a couple hours, had given up hope several times now.....on the way back i hear a couple ravens cackling near the last blood bed i found.
Went to investigate, saw the yote, shot him, walked up and found the buck 10 yards away!
Looks like a lynx chewed about 10 lbs off the ass but otherwise all good!

So the buck you seen running that seemed fine was a different buck, and the original buck was dead back by the last bed, or he made a loop and then died by the bed, don't quit get what your saying.

No, turns out i saw another buck take off, he was very close to the dead buck when i first saw him, but he took me way off on a wild goose... Well buck chase. It was on my hike back to the truck that a few ravens gave me the location. The buck had been dead a while and something ate a hind qyuarter already. There was large cat tracks and yote tracks there.
