Well 2015 is done for us...with the freezers full we are not going to chase after the WTs this yr.
We had a group bull draw and 1 single bull draw..all in our local area for the first time in 25yrs of applying, I have seen a big bull for 2 yrs now in a hike in only spot so right away day 2 my wife and I head in there and as we walk I am giving out a few locator cow calls..low and behold after 35minutes we get a response, the wife and I split to the sides of the small draw we had above a small bog I knew he was coming out from.
I called softly a few more times and we could here him grunting his way to us, he held up in the hemlocks right in front of us at 40yards, I had 2 clean shots but promised the wife it was going to be her chance at her first bull.
Well after 5min he finally stepped out straight on and walked to 15yards from her, she did an amazing job holding steady not moving or breathing heavy and then he turns just enough for her to drive a 165 sierra game king thru the big guys heart, he went about 10yards my way and fell dead at 12 yards from my feet.
The big boy was 48inches from edge of palm to edge of palm and 51inches to widest points!! An amazing specimen for her first bull I must say!
2 weeks later out again another member of our hunting party dropped a nice 36inch bull as well as a sweet 4x4 mulie in the 165 class..
Then the last couple days of the draw I managed to hike my way into a nice young 3yr old bull that had his twin brother with him...he stood around for an hr while I 1/4'd his twin out...
Then the wife and I dropped a pr of 4x3 point mulies for pepperoni and sasauge.
With all that meat in the freezers for our family of 5 we figured this yr the WT's are safe, and we would go after then next year..lol...along with a shot at some elk which we havent shot since 2010
I will post the pics when I can figure it out as I always have a heck of a time getting them on here!!!
I know I know..no pics no proof..lol
