AWell the LEH gods smiled on me and my friends and we got a shared bull moose draw for 2 bulls this year. Went up to the area last week. Got into camp late Tuesday and we ended up sleeping in the next morning. Left camp at 11:30, didn't think we'd see anything but we drove up high to take a look around. Sat and glassed a small valley, noticed a bull moose across the valley 600 yards away. I gave a cow call and he bee-lined it straight for us. I got setup between two stands of Christmas trees and watched as he got to within 200 yards. He stopped behind a stand of firs so I didn't have a shot. I gave a grunt to see if I could get him moving again and he turned to the right and walked into the stand of trees on my right and that's when I noticed a second bull tailing him.

At at this point I couldn't see either bull as they were both in the thick trees but I sat still because I figured they would come out into the cutblock again. About 5 minutes later a flock of song birds burst out of the thicket and that's when I heard snapping branches only this time they were hard to my right and about 20 yards away. I turned my rifle and just as I did the first bull burst out into the clearing 15 yards away. I settledthe crosshairs just behind the shoulder and squeezed off a shot. He ran 20 yards and I saw blood pouring out of the bullet hole. He rolled, kicked and died. Meanwhile my buddy took off behind me and to the right, ran the other bull down and shot him at 70 yards right through the heart. 2 bulls down in 5 minutes. Spent the rest of the day hauling the moose out of the swamp they died in.

Neither did I, I talked to a handful of guys who said they'd be holed up in the chit but one long sexy cow call and both these guys cleared 600+ yards in under 10 minutes.

I would imagine that it beats the alternative of spending days looking around with no success. Hanging around the campfire with that satisfied feeling of knowing you'll have meat all winter would be really nice. Good for you both.

Now that is the way to do it. 2 moose in less then 5 minutes. And then the rest of the day to pack out.

Congrats on a couple fine moose. Isn't it amazing how they always seem to fall in the only patch of water around! At least it wasn't the middle of a swamp
