Just started getting into hunting and shooting, got my Hunter number and PAL/RPAL this year.
About me: Rachel, living in Maple Ridge, 20 years old, engineering undergrad and competitive sailor/rugby player.
I've done quite a bit of hiking with my dog (who isn't quite ready for hunting.. yet!) but as far as fitness goes, I'm good for a trek and can hold my own.
I've been on a few unfruitful hunting trips with my current hunting partner, who has just left the country again, leaving me with an unfilled white tail tag. I've been slowly accumulating gear for backpacking and hunting, (my partner has also left me with his various buck knives which I haven't much a clue on how to use... so learning how to properly field dresss an animal is definitely on my list of things to do)
I have a Mark V in 30-06 for the buck and a 20 gauge 870 for the little ones.
One of the biggest hurdles keeping me from the bush is the lack of a vehicle. So I'm really hoping to tag along on some trips before the season is out.
I'd love to get out and fill this tag, but more importantly just learn as much as I can about everything. Any hunters or parties looking for another partner, and willing to take me under their wing, tag along for some trips, or even just impart some knowledge on where a green hunter should start, please shoot me a PM or leave a message below, I'm eager to make some warm connections in this community.
Thanks!
Rachel
