Not much of a story for this buck. It was shot off of the main road at about 300 yards with my .308.
We were quadding to a spot only accessible by atv and not far before our turn off I spotted some deer to my left. I stopped and put up the binos and there was a group of 6 or 7 does and a big buck to their left about 60 yards away. I got off the quad to try and get a better look at him and he trotted away to the top of a ridge to check back on his does; he was now 300 or yards away. He turned broadside and walked along the top and I could see he was definetly a 4-point.
The does were slowly following him and moving up the ridge towards the buck. I got a solid rest and took my first shot, perhaps a little rushed because I thought he would be taking off any minute. The shot missed, but the buck took a couple steps forward and looked back towards the does again. I settled in again, relaxed, took a deep breath, squeezed the trigger and he drops.
After climbing the steep ridge and walking up to the buck, the first shot took a tuft of hair off the top of his back.

After getting the buck down to the road and settling down after all the excitement, I started to regather my stuff. After accounting for all my knives, magazine, all that kind of stuff, I realized my wedding ring was not on my finger! I checked all my pockets a couple times, checked my gloves, nothing! So I back tracked all my steps and got to the spot where the deer was laying and in a pool of blood was my ring. I guess I lost it in the body cavity and when we lifted the deer up to drain some of the blood, the ring came out too. Lucky me.

I used to be a goldsmith..
you may need to get it sized down.
Most people would have never noticed till they were long gone!
Anyways, congrats on the buck.

Yep! Or, wear nitrile gloves for field dressing, which would keep the ring in place, besides sometimes giving a bit of protection from knife and bones cuts and making clean up a breeze.

The ring fits pretty snug, it's never come off any other time. I have lost it before and I did buy another, but I found it under the seat of my truck where it fell out of my pocket.

I lost my ring once also after cleaning a bunch of grouse in the snow. Washed my hands in the snow and shook my hands to dry them and it came flying off. Looked for and hour couldn't find it. Went back to town to get a metal detector and couldn't find one. Went back and after another 45 min. Found it under the powder about 4 feet from where I was gutting. I just clamped mine a bit and it is now slightly oval but hasn't come off since😃😃
