Well not much of a story but I'll give it a go and try and make it as exciting as possible.
Left my place in the LM at 330ish this morning and was on my way to region 3 for a couple days solo. I have already filled my region 8 tag with a little 2 pt meat buck so I was forced to drive a little farther.
About 4.5hr later I turn off the truck and tie up the boots ready for my hike into a brand new area. As soon as I left the truck, I found a freshly thrashed bush so I figured I was in the right area. I kept hiking along and gaining elevation with one hand on my glass the entire time. I was constantly thinking about the wind and glassing the entire area looking for a little bit of movement every 5 steps.
After about 45-60 minutes, I ended up finding a doe about 100-125 yrds away in some sparse timber that I could easily see into. I froze and picked apart everything surrounding the doe and sure enough the deer started to appear everywhere. I came up over a knoll and had perfect wind so they had no idea I was there. I saw one buck, then two then three. All in all, I counted 8 bucks and 3 of them being 4pts. They were hanging around a hand full of doe and seemed very 'out to lunch'.
I picked out the largest 4pt and waited until he cleared all the others and branches, one gentle squeeze and I was cutting my tag on a nice 4pt in 'anybuck' season once again! Once more big week long trip into region 5 towards the end of Nov looking for Mr. Big and the season will be over in terms of big game...
No field pics, well I have them but not going to show them :) want to keep the area a secret!
